It was just a little over a month ago when Hogwarts Legacy put out word that additional updates and features would be coming to the game later this summer.
The hype immediately went into overdrive and speculation has been running rampant as to what additional updates and features this could be.
Well, there’s good news and bad news today coming straight from Hogwarts Legacy Community Manager, Chandler Wood.

I would definitely agree, at least be able to develop friendships more. I keep seeing a bunch of people say romance options would be inappropriate because it’s a “kids game” but they’re teenagers. Teens date and the original Harry Potter series had romantic undertones as early as Chamber of Secrets. Certain characters are definitely coded to be crushing on MC, you can’t convince me that Sebastian and Poppy at least aren’t a little infatuated with MC. I think it would be fun to have a chance to at least explore that a little and set it up to be deeper in HL2 if we get to continue as a 6th year

One little adjustment would be when you wait for a quest, instead of laying down on the ground you, instead, crawl out of the nab sack. Use the ladder climb animation. It would be more wizardling.

That would be nice. Although it's funny when after the wait ends, the character gets up after sleeping in the grass. Then the other character says something like "Good, you made it". I had a good laugh at that once. I was thinking "Oh no way! I'm here! It's not like my character was sleeping on some rocks when Fig got there."

Sitting. All I want is to replay this game over again and actually take the visuals and interactions in properly by sitting. I won’t have to angle my character in specific positions just to see stuff going on in the background. So yeah, as mad as it seems. I’m just excited to be able to SIT in this game the most. In real life I’m a people watcher and for a hobby all I do is just sit somewhere and watch people. It’s like a form of meditation to me. And I learn a lot of new information through just slowing down in my life and taking the time to just sit and watch experience itself happening. It might be weird to people but that’s just me. It’s who I am. It’s what I love to do.

For a small update new game+ is a must have and to have a companion or even a pet to aid you in battle (e.g mongrel/or spider) to have your own house elf (that you can design) that you can sell any excess items to. For a big update to be a amimagus would be good , to battle the equivalent of death eaters , to have your own house, have the option to become a dark lord so ashwinders become allied and normal wizards are foes

It would be nice to get some new physical features to choose from for our character. It sucks when you create your character only to realize that half of the random characters in the game have your exact same face or hairstyle or whatever. It would also be cool if we could alter the color of our clothes. For example: there’s a really cool blue hat that I like, but I only wear it when I am playing as my Ravenclaw character to go with the blue color scheme.

Totally agree. I wanted to be able to make my Slytherin character look like a creep. But he looks too dashing and handsome. Different body types would be nice too. Even just a trim/average/thick or short/average/tall setting. Also more than two voice options. I'd be a lot more likely to do multiple playthroughs if all my characters didn't have the same voice and body.

@@lucaleone4331 Yeah, the ideal would be six voices; Heroic, Slightly dorky, and Moody/sinister. (In both male and female.) That would give plenty of variety. You could go with the house stereotypes, or mix it up and have a Dorky Slytherin or a Moody Griffindor. There need to be at least 2 male and 2 female voices so you can play as every house without having to reuse the same two voices.

I am currently working on a Founders Audiodrama Project so something that I have found extraordinarily helpful is just the world itself in Hogwarts, whenever I'm like where is this or what does this look like I'd simply pop the disc on hop on my Broom, Hippogriff, or Thestral and head to said location and then I'd have a better understanding so getting a Photo Mode would be a ton of help, weather we be up in the air or down on the ground a Photo Mode is my top choice.

I want to see savable spell set layouts. This would make it easier to swap out your vaverium spells for combat spells or whatever way you like it. The ability to save gear load outs as well would be nice. This way you could quickly load your gear with specific traits for specific missions and not accidentally sell them.

Free DLC is nice but it just guarantees that it's going to be small things that inevitably make us ask, "Why wasn't this in the game to begin with?" And that live-service Harry Potter game announcement is not good news at all. There are too many live-service games and only a handful of them are of decent quality. They should be focusing all these resources into making Hogwarts Legacy 2. The existence of this live-service project does not bode well for the possibility of a sequel.

The game was fun for the most part. 100% it twice (Slytherin and Ravenclaw) and got the achievement for getting the other 2 House characters to the 'split' point. However, the game overall - story, characterization, villains, and background lore, was underwhelming and fell away quickly to collectathon 'gameplay'. There desperately needed to be a companion system, and companions interacting with each other (Sebastian and Ominis style), meaning behind which House the MC is in as well as interactions with the common rooms (especially since those were some of the best locations in the game), more interactions with the teachers, and more engrossing explanation and revelation over what the dark power was, how it was used, and what the MC's power was and how it was used. Over the last year since launch, the developers should have been dropping minor updates (paid or not) that included some of the mini games listed in the video that involved the companions and other named students and teachers. Though removing Quidditch was a definite problem, (the bigger problem is the fairly terrible stand alone game they're making instead), it would have had little to no connection to the main storyline, so it's absence if negligible. The game's ending needed work as it seems incredibly unfinished and just hits a roadblock that simply states "The End (?)" Unfortunately it has no connecting or continuing threads with any of the companions, the MC, the Guardians, nor the dark power itself to anything that could be considered HL2, if it even has anything to do with the original other than the school. Hogwarts Legacy 2 had better include most if not all of these things at launch. Now that the main cast are older (or are all new) romance would be a good idea to introduce as well, of course to its own tasteful limits as they are still teenagers. The exploration of 'dark emotions' in spellwork would be such a huge jumping off point that seemed to overshadowed by 'big end boss fight.'

The two things I would most like to see is a revamp of the character creator. Even Everquest back in the day would let you make a more unique looking character, HL is pretty much cookie cutter with a small choice of tweaks, the PC doesn't look much different than the background npcs and the main npcs look much better with textures and animations. Definitely needs more voice choices that don't sound so metallic and tinny. The second thing is the removal of the tedious and dull lockpicking minigame. They can have three levels to the Alohomora spell without making people sit through that thing over and over, and over, and over, and over, and... It just breaks the immersion and flow of the game. It's supposed to be a wizarding world, not a locksmithing world.

I think a small easy fix for Alohomora is once you unlock the higher levels, everything below it is an auto unlock. Since you are getting "better" might as well show it by making it instant.

I dont know why "additional updates" makes people theorize whole new locations and gameplay like Quidditch. The most Im hoping for is: -new clothes -immersive NPC clothing, so make them wear winter clothes during winter, when outside of the castle make them wear casual clothes instead of uniforms -loadouts, (you can see a theme here lol) letting us create outfits we can more easily switch between instead of individually swapping every piece everytime you switch between dungeon crawling, back to class etc. Like Retro I would also like to see the CrossedWands make a reappearance and update. Its honestly more baffling than almost anything else missing since its ALREADY in the game. Why isnt there more duels / dueling clubs?

So here’s the thing, dlc isn’t necessarily separate downloadable content. Depending on the update, that could also be seen as dlc. If they add features and quests that weren’t a part of the base game before, that would technically class it as a dlc. Sure it’s still an update but it’s also new downloadable content that you install through an update of a base game. And it’s not the first time something like this has happened either. The more prime example of a dlc update I could think of is with dragon ball xenoverse. The way it is now versus how it was before they released these new features that are now part of the main game is completely different. They’ve added more missions, transformations, skills, super souls, game modes and more over the years. And they’ve done so through updates that they’ve launched around the same time as a new dlc drop. So to say we won’t be getting dlc for hogwarts legacy isn’t entirely accurate. This could just be the start of something bigger. This could lead to larger expansions for the game that offer an entirely new story that takes 20+ hours or it might not. Only time will tell but I still remain hopeful.

I don't know much about DLC, cause most of my games I own don't have that. If its something of the Additional Content in the main menu, I want all the equipments from the pre-order and deluxe eddition. I have the standerd set, but months later the gear, mount, and battle arena from DE became available through that, but not the dungeon. So, is that what DLC is?

For flight controls I switch keyboard and mouse. Mouse left click/hold for slow forward and define direction and W down S up. That has worked reasonably well for me but I've never been very good at all at flight when rushed so I'd hate trying to master a quiditch game. I have a hard enough time just beating Imelda and have had to take the easy out a couple of times to progress the story.

If they want people like me to come back they need to add something like a new game plus mode. Whether it’s just allowing using to have all inventory slots and transmogs and clothings unlocked, and whatnot but just not the spells. Or just do what Spider-Man 2 just did and allow us to to have the stuff but still do missions. Like the venom suit isn’t unlocked till half way through the game but you can start with it in the start of the game. So it can be done or something can be done about adding that and adding skipping cut scenes and skipping the main training part of the start of the game and just start at hogwarts being introduced.

Would've liked to see different colours for spells depending on your wand choice in the game.. I know it probably wouldn't be easy to implement, but say have a bright yellow/red for basic attack with a phoenix core, something more silvery with a unicorn core etc., just so there's more reason to actually choosing your wand setup in the beginning of the game other than what you see in hand

honestly, I would just love more verity in carecter creation, more options when it came to inital wand apparence, as for something bigger, it would be awesome if different wand materials and specifications had actual in game effects, like the different cores would make certain spells bigger aoe, or more damage, or better protection / healing or less cd. This is something established in the lore that unique wand elements tends to have differing effects, and would add a lot to makeing every charecter feel more unique and add to the replayability (and harder difficulty would be nice, game is yoo easy on the hardest of diffculites)

I have a feeling the free update will fix some bugs, add the hogsmeade play station quest, and possibly some spells that we see dark wizards use in the game like that flame pillar spell. Maybe another magical animal or two, and likely that's it if its free. I cant in good faith see too much more than that.

Guess the "additional content" is going to be the exclusive PS5 content for rest of the platforms, a photomode and a "season" change toggle setting so you can switch from Spring, summer, fall and winter and hopefully a new game+ feature.

Hey brother I completely agree on what you're saying but I really hope that in a small update they could add New Game Plus and not only that but also we can use the Elder wand because even if they don't do a DLC they can still put it in the game because you're pretty much able to use it it's just locked in one certain way in the story so I really hope that does happen because other than modding that's the only way you're able to actually equip it and use it so I crossed my fingers very hard for that to happen between now and next year👀

The fact it's free tells us something too. If it were big like a story expansion, it would be paid content. The fact it's free means it's either small or something that should have been there from the beginning. Aka, speaking to characters freely which was in the game files, the haunted hogsmeade quest and maybe sitting too. Not expecting new settings or Quidditch.

I know this might be odd, but I think they should implement sleeping. Like instead of just going to the map to get to the next day, have you have to go all the way back to your room and sleep to get to the next day.

For a NG+, I just wouldn't mind if it let us keep our level, cosmetic items (wand handles and clothing for appearance only) and talent points. I would say no to money, gear and spells

Difficulty upgrades. Even at hardest difficuly. 2 or 2 hits and any opponent is dead. I didn't even enjoy any mini boss fights cz they were too easy cz i did all little missions i came across

Probably new cosmetics, nothing more. Sitting is more than a small update. That would require animating and doing so with every different chair maybe even engine changes, no idea. Definitely going to be something a lot more simpler.

They really just need to use HL as a base and do the entire series with an expanded lore. There is nothing wrong with OG series, the Lego games are great, and them being redone would be nice as well, but the whole series in a game would be epic and could even charge twice as much as a regular game and people would play it. Then WB would see the proof in the pudding and do a legit LOTR game as well.

For Hogwarts Legacy I’m currently hoping that , there’ll be a newer Hidden House for us to find or to be put into to live in. Kinda like having us to our characters hands like for casting our magics. But also being more opened to finding for newer magic spells , but also being more opened for discovery. But also to have us to grow our own magic spells. And also being more opened to finding for reagents , but also being more opened to finding the inner witch and wizards that we all are.

Unforgiving difficulty: dark wizards know and use unforgivable curses Playing with the enemies enhanced mod right now, and knowing that the ashwinder duelist can AK me if i am not on my game with dodging makes for extremely tense combat. Also, when my character says something like "I defeated an ashwinder, sebastian will never believe this" it makes a bit more sense. In the base game, it doesnt make any sense. You wade through ashwinders like theyre nothing. When they can one-shot you, the surprise feels more earned.

Yes, it’s still available. You have to progress to a certain point in the game though for it to open up. It’s called the “Mind your business” quest and it’s located in Hogsmeade.

Hey Retro, when I said in your HP Philosophers stone stream that money shouldn't be the focus, I meant it in the way of that the overall product should not be compromised or have every other element butchered & punted out as soon as possible with the only fixation being profit & nothing but profit all for the sake of a quick cash grab & massive profit boost over a short term period. Unfortunatley that seems to be the way nearly all games are going now a days, companies chasing trends to become the next Fortnight or Helldivers & failng miserably rather than trying to change up the formula because they THINK they know whats best & they see nothing wrong based on their statistics. ( I can't always get my thoughts across in chat very well given the limited words, I need to improve on that) Unfortunatley I don't think we're getting anything that's going to be significant, I'm not being cynacal or negative but given recent news I'm not getting my hopes up at all. I haven't played HL in a while & probably won't return unless I get the itch to play it again. My hopes before chandlers post & the executives words were to get: Haunted Hogsmeade But with far more customisation options for the shop ( its our shop) & the ability to sell much more than clothes, you hear poachers bragging about their stocks, let us pinch theirs! to add to our own so we can sell brooms & other magical artifacts. Photomode sitting & sleeping..these really should have been in the game from the start Period. it's just ridicolous how we cant do either of these very basic actions when other games have done this with no trouble at all. Spells like Reducto/Expulso, Fire column, localised Lightning bolts, tweak the body bind, add some more incapacitory spells like incarcerous & Immobulous, Expulso & Reducto should be very easy to add, given I'v seen people use mods for them, it's stupid we can't cast them. The game pretty much encourages a lethal playthrough, which I'm not against...I just want more options that does not have us kill kill kill. Permanant crossed wands/Unlimited waves in battle arenas It's baffiling how this was cut short & was a giant letdown. I would also like unlimited waves in the battle arenas...7 waves is nothing. Also have foes cast the 3 curses at us...again allready in game...this game was a massive safety net in which our MC never ever got hurt or was seemingly injured in anyway ( save from the minor injury at the start) Now though I'm not expecting anything great given the recent news, I'm actually expecting alot of content to be pay walled. Perhaps if I see there's been significant improvement with the game & there's new content that's worth jumping back in I'll hop back on. Thanks for the video & have a nice day :)
