Good Not Great with Josh Peck & Ben Soffer

I've Had It

Күн бұрын

Jennifer and Pumps are joined by two of our favorite podcasters, Josh Peck & Ben Soffer, the hosts of the Good Guys Podcast. Josh has had it with yoga instructors who think they're now some kind of "spiritual giant" and Ben has had it with the insanity of tipping culture - ESPECIALLY at a self-checkout. Jennifer puts the boys on the spot with a salacious Had It or Hit It question that leads to Pumps revealing a very scandalous answer.

What I heard about “ozempic shaming” was that it wasn’t targeted to obese people but that now that more people is taking it, it is reducing ozempic stock for diabetic patients who had it prescribed … Just don’t know how much truth is in this
@AmandaJo_
@AmandaJo_ 9 ай бұрын
Yeah the only backlash I’d heard about was people being upset that non-diabetic, already-thin people (or at least people who were only slightly overweight) were using it when they didn’t actually need it.
@mckenziert24
@mckenziert24 9 ай бұрын
yes exactly ^^^ & I think with it starting with celebrities taking it when they weren't the ones it was made available for also caused issues. my mom is diabetic & is prescribed Ozempic & she hasn't been able to pick up her prescription a little over a month now & just spoke to the pharmacy who said there's 40 people on the waitlist & it will be MONTHS until they have stock. what makes it worse, is her doctor prescribed an alternative just with a stronger dose in lieu of the Ozempic & insurance refuses to approve it 🙃

The “Good” Guy’s takes that makes me think they should reconsider their name: -Facetune is unnatural and bad unless they do it -Women who wear heavy makeup to look attractive are unnatural and misleading and bad, but porn is natural and good -Couples should consume same porn at the same rate or breakup -Fat people are inherently unhealthy and unhappy -Skinny people all have a good relationship with food and a high self worth -The spirituality and faith of young women isn’t worthy of respect, unless they agree with it, even when they’re paying them for the guidance. (genuinely what do they think yoga instructors are there to do) Also, i hope they would confront or intervene with the “friend for years” who picked someone they didn’t like or parented in a way that was so egregious it completely changed their view of them. It isn’t their responsibility to, but i’m judging them loudly if they don’t feel like it is.

Unfortunately I used to be that way too and let fatphobia rule so much of my thinking about my own body and other people’s bodies. I know (at least in American culture) it takes a lot of conscious effort to unlearn that stuff, so I don’t entirely fault him for thinking that way since it’s a pervasive issue and something you have to actively choose to change your mindset around. It just sucks to see it platformed in a place that usually feels light and safe 🙁

As a gay man, I never felt beholden to any rules about weddings. My husband and I did what we wanted: no religious service, no wedding party, no speeches, no rehearsal, no special dances--just fun, food, and drinks. And you can do what you want, too! Do only the parts you want to do, and people who don't like it can stay the fuck home.

TIPPING! My local fish market now presents the payment iPad for an 18% to 30% tip for the guy who wraps up and hands me my raw fish! They don't cook it, they don't serve it up. The fish itself is $35/lb and they ask for a tip for serving me over the counter! Un-fucking believable! The kicker is that they know their regular customers and the ones that don't tip them, they ignore for as long as possible.They will serve everyone else before they will get around to the ones they know don't tip. 🐟

The guests aren’t a good fit for the show and it feels odd that you guys aren’t willing to listen to your audience. I understand why you ignore people calling out your hypocrisy around being “anti capitalist” even though you have a huge amount of ads for unethical companies such as better help and hormone treatments (in one episode you talk for a while about how it’s ridiculous you can just advertise medications in the US but you do it anyway) because it makes money but you need to start practicing what you preach.

I have a few things. 1) The short video - like a few week ago - of Jenn escorting Pumps to the SVU, with such chivalry, is hot and I mean as in classy, hot women. 2) Jenn, your turn of phrase and beauty with words, oh come on over and just talk while I melt. 3) About tipping...I've had it with, when you dine at a restaurant with a group, and you can't get separate checks, so let's say me, I get the check because I don't have cash on me for this so I'm agreeing to put it on my credit card, and everyone is giving me cash for their share. They're adding up what they ordered, including tip, this goes around, then I gather all the cash and count it. Wtf, it's short of the total, like by a lot. Then it's a whole ordeal of going around, and some people can't do math and others only figured in like a one dollar tip. More cash gathered, but we're still $50 or something short, and everybody acts like the check is settled and it's fine to stick me with the shortfall. Then they're getting up, doing the hugs, leaving the restaurant and here I am stuck with a big chunk of the check. I hate these people. They're grifters as a group. F them all.

Damn, there's no one who will spread vitriolic and harmful misinformation about fat people and fatness like a thin person who used to be kinda fat. The ozempic rant was genuinely soooo hard to listen to and made me so sad. If any listeners want a much more thoughtful, nuanced, and 300% less deranged conversation about Ozempic, please listen to the Maintenance Phase podcast's most recent episode about it. This was a bummer for sure.

The minimum wage has definitely been raised in the last 15 years. Sometimes I think you two talk out of your ass.

The last federal minimum wage increase was 2009. That’s what they’re referencing. There are places where minimum wage has not changed since then.
