Some things are best kept simple. Like a good bowl of prawn noodles.
Armed with her grandfather’s humble recipe from the 1920s - featuring a rich broth topped with sliced prawns and lean pork - Ruifang serves up a bite that will take you back in time.

Yes this is the original recipe that has been around for decades. Simple clear rich prawn flavour soup, sliced pork and prawns with yellow round noodles. Simply delicious. Stalls selling this original dish getting less and less. Happy to note that there are those who carry on the tradition ... Love this dish.

EC S this is the original because last time hard to get big prawns.

@@mocky126 Nothing to do with the size of the prawns. Normal prawns are used even if there there are bigger size prawns today (that some touts with their expensive offering). It has everything to do with the soup, the clear broth, the deep fried sliced shallots, the lean pork slices. All quite simple. The real flavor is in the prawn soup that is unique, special. No pork ribs. There are less and less stalls that sell this version nowadays. To me this is the best :))

best video of food I come across--honest n real... no rubbish or fake compliment .. 3 generations of doing the same thing is a rare talent... woke up 1.30 am n 1st bowl sold @ 6.30 am... great dedication.. wonderful... no epilatives like BEST or greatest... with the real cook telling the story... not some fancy food critic

Pretty sister hawker (: It's commendable that she takes on the hawker trade and continue her family legacy. I would come down to Tekka Market just to find her stall and try her prawn noodles (:

I was sceptical at first when I ate the ones she prepared, when I used to fetch my Wife to work around that area. Is she as good as her Dad? One day I had the opportunity to taste her Dad’s. I though it was my lucky day. To eat the one prepared by the ‘Master’. Verdict: I preferred hers 👍

Even in Malaysia, you can hardly find this kind of prawn noodle anymore. You can tell by its colour, it's original! Taste is light and sweetened with meat. Not red and covered in prawn oil. I'm from Ipoh by the way. Please carry the tradition

Many keen & passionate younger people are needed to take over the business to PRESERVE the quality of such fast disappearing food. The kachang puteh man has already disappeared from the food scene of SG. So is the 麦芽糖(honey lollipop) Penang is a good example of the continuity of their food heritage. Eating traditional food should also be encouraged to give rise to the next generation of traditional food providers & consumption.

If they start selling their first bowl of noodles at 6 am in the morning if business is good she might be done before lunch time. Clean up the stall, wash the dishes, pack up and go back home to sleep. I'm a baker say need to start a shift at 3 am, need to wake up at 1.30 to 2 am. I will sleep around 8.30 to 9 pm at night. Usually when you do the night shift you tend to sleep in the day

She probably sleeps at 7pm when it’s dark. If she doesn’t take a nap, she will have the afternoon to do whatever she wants, though that may include buying ingredients, though that isn’t hard as Tekka has a wet market
