About the beginning: Crowley is the one that caused humans to have free will... Which could (quite easily from our point if view) be seen as a good thing to have. Aziraphale gave them humanitys first weapon ... And I guess history has shown us what humanity has used weapons for ... So arguably not Aziraphales brightest moment, even if he did it from a place if wanting to protect them ;)

But if Crowley is the one that gave humans intelligence therefore free will, that means he's Lucifer. In the Bible Lucifer is the light bringer, the one that gave us our ability to have conscience. My confusion comes from that line "Lucifer and the boys" that Crowley said. That can't be right, right?

I saw someone said he was Raphael before he became a fallen angel, and I Googled it and said supposedly is "Ashtoreth", therefore "Astaroth" the Great Duke of Hell in the first hierarchy would make sense. Sorry if that's a bit confusing I'm not that into the fandom but I had this question since I started watching it last year.

Michael Sheen is one of my favourites. Such a versatile actor. He's played an alpha werewolf (Underworld), UK PM Tony Blair (The Queen), a narcissistic lawyer (The Good Fight), a medieval priest (Kingdom of Heaven), a pioneering sex therapist (Masters of Sex), an aristocratic ancient vampire (Twilight saga), and now an endearing angel in Good Omens.

It is important that the Book is not _only_ by Neil gaiman, but also by a second Author called Sir Terry Pratchet, a prolific and beloved writer who created the _41_ Book Spanning "Discworld" Series. I can only reccomed his work, he is briliant. sadly he passed away in 2015 at only age 66 from after a long and hard battle with Alzheimers, with his last book in the series written in his clear episodes. Him and Gaiman where good friends and this is pretty much Gaimans Eulogy to his departed friend. The second and third series are based on a rough draft the two made but never wrote

I remember when they were first talking about making an adaptation of the novel, Neil and Terry were joking about adding scenes set in sushi restaurants so they could sit in and do cameos while eating lots of sushi someone else paid for. Terry did cameos in all the movies based on his works while he was alive, but in this one he's only represented by his iconic hat, which lives in Aziraphale's bookstore.

@@elle.byy.d apparently neil gaiman and terry pratchett had notes for a sequel to the first book and this season should be based off of those notes. I'm not sure tho so don't take my word for it

@@ludovicadangelo2710 As I understood it in an interview, Pratchett and Gaiman had sketched out a sequel, but as the ending of season 1 has an addition, which isn't in the book, this sequel woudn't work as a second season, but could be used as a third season, if there ever is one going to be.

I dunno if anyone mentioned yet, and it's not a *great* answer, but some of the strange choices are because the original book is based on the old movie, The Omen, in which an American diplomat is persuaded by an evil priest to secretly adopt a child whose mother died in childbirth (much like Good Omens, baby switching in the hospital etc), who they name Damien, and who is looked after by an evil nanny and acquires an evil rottweiler. Good Omens just throws another baby into the mix - it does mention the third baby in the book, and says something like "It would be nice to think Baby 3 was adopted by a loving family, and grew up happily. It would be nice, wouldn't it?" and I thiiink then leaves it hanging for most of the book. Eventually I think it confirms that was the case, though I can't recall whether it's clear if that had *always* been the case or whether Adam willed it.

In the book it's implied that the third baby ends up in Tadfield as the leader of the rival gang of kids for the Them 😂

I'm so glad y'all are watching this show. It's so good. Crowley did say that Adam can change reality whether he (Adam) knows it or not so because Adam wanted a small dog that thought became real. The baby switching was confusing but the point is some babies were switched which meant Crowley & Azeriphael followed the wrong kid.

I LOVE this book. Terry Pratchett was such a delightful writer and person. IDk how this serves as an adaptation of it, but i would recommend Terry Pratchetts books anytime.

I think it was quite a good Adaptation, probably because Gaiman was actually deeply involved. this was his farewell to Pratchett and he made sure that it is as good as can be. There are some changes, but mainly they serve to streamline the story. YOu may have noticed that sometimes the book can veer off a bit, which is due to the fact that Pratchet and gaiman wrote it mostly via Letter and email. Here, gaiman just uses the opportunity to introduce some characters earlier and such like

I love this show it's so good. Once you finish this show, I highly recommend _Staged._ It's a show David Tennant and Michael Sheen did set during the pandemic sort of a way to pass the time. It's hilarious. It stars their real life wives and a bunch of celebrity guest because no one was busy.

Its so interesting that Crowley has taken the role of both God and Satan through those celestial’s most renowned acts: Tempting Adam and Eve, and then creating the universe. “Let there be light” and whatnot.

Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman are two of my favorite authors, so when I found out they collaborated on a book, I was so happy to read it. This is such a good adaptation, too! (I'd still suggest to read the book of your interested. There are some fun changes 😊)

i read the book a few times back when it was new. I did not know this show was that book. I kept telling my kid. This was a remake i knew what would happen next. He told me it was a first time make. not before i looked it up did i realize i had read the book. So good is the adaptation that i felt i had seen it before. PS: The book is still in my collection. I have read it again since then

They had a whole conversation in the show about how the antichrist is supposed to name the hellhound (examples Crowley gave: throatripper, stalks-by-night) and how that would give the hellhound its "identity" and its "function"... so because his name is "dog", he's basically just a dog. It's not that confusing.

Actually if you do any digging into mother Teresa or Gandhi you'll find that they were both hiding a lot of skeletons. I can never remember what mother Teresa did that was so horrible however let his wife die of a sickness that they had the cure for and could have given her however it was against their beliefs so therefore he refused to let his wife even think about taking it. A little while after she died he got it and then he accepted the medicine that he refused her to even think about taking. Remember no one is as good as they seem & no one is as bad as they seem if you actually get to know them.
