Good Police Work-Missing Wallet Recovered

After a man lost his wallet at a gas station, #PhoenixPD came to help. Officers identified who picked up the wallet and recovered it with all its items, including $3000 in cash! After talking to the woman who had taken the wallet, officers found that she did not have any money for food, the officers decided to gift her lunch money.

Few things to note: -the officer said flat out she just wanted cooperation and everything would be fine. -this guy carrying around that much may have been on his way to pay a bill. Don’t judge the amount, some places only take cash or it’s the best way to pay. -the officer gave the lady money, which was completely unnecessary but kind. I just wish she was also given some resources on where to stay, find food, etc.

Wait what? Any cop I have met would have slammed her all over the place after a few tazes, arrested her for every charge they could think of and kept the money in the wallet. And for this to be Phoenix is crazy. They have lawsuits coming from every direction. They just settled two a couple months ago. If you live there you need to get these officers names and make a big deal about it. That way other officers will want to match their behavior.

She stole though… The cop is genuinely a really nice guy for doing that, but regardless of her situation at the moment. She shouldn’t be rewarded for breaking the law. Not getting arrested would’ve been good enough. People need to be held responsible for their actions. I’ve been in the exact situation she’s in. Addicted to drugs and homeless no where to go. I never once stole from anybody.

Ryan Whitaker was a man that had a legal right to possess a gun and was unjustly shot and killed for answering his door with his gun unaware it was police on the other side, never once does the body cam show Ryan Whitaker raising his gun towards an officer however it does show Ryan laying down his gun as well as laying down his body just before Officer Jeff Cooke shot Ryan twice in the back.
