"Are you Eliasha?" "Are you the prophet" These were the 3 persons they were in search of and they instantly got answer that shows them (the Jews) that John the Baptist wasn't any of the aforementioned individuals. The simple answer to that of the prophet is simple. The Jews are expecting A Messiah, according to what they have knew in all of Israel the Lord would either send a King saviour, a prophet or a Jewish Priest to save and rule all of Israel. They will never accept the truth. Their aims was to defence there prophet, claim to be superior. Truth is a universal topic that we all seek to know and understand.
