I loved donggook’s reaction to the pants because some parents would get angry for ruining the pants, and instead he put it on for Sian. You can see how happy Sian was at the end, this is my favorite moment of this family. :-))

He probably didn't get mad because it wasn't permanent, like having those papers (or worse, real cloth _and marker inks!!)_ sewn on the denim. Also, if Donggook was truly poor, he would have been more upset. But he's rich and they were just glued papers that can be pulled off and have the glue washes off, so all is okay.

I've seen not over the top but jeans with coloured cloth underneath the rips. You can make them yourself with fabric scraps and a basic tack stitch.
