Good Volleyball Ball Control Is the Key To Improve Your Passing Skill
Passing is important in volleyball because your team needs good passers with good volleyball ball control skills to run an offense in order to score points.
The three ways to improve your passing in volleyball is to increase your volleyball ball control
-by increasing foot speed
-beating the ball to the spot before it lands and
-be stopped when passing the ball
For better passing you need good ball control skills in order to deliver the ball to your intended target by using fast footwork that will improve the accuracy of your forearm pass.
If you adopt the following habits that I teach in my Boot Camp classes, in order to get a higher percentage of volleyball passes to your setter so your team can run an offensive play.
Increase Ball Control With Fast Footwork: Get Positioned Early Behind The Ball Move Your Feet Faster
If you are late in getting positioned behind the ball
then you have to do a better job of moving your feet and
getting stopped behind the ball so you
increase the chance of controlling the ball right to the target.
For beginner and intermediate level players when you are not positioned behind the ball, in many cases you have to swing your platform outside of your body to pass it.
This is okay for advanced players who have fast footwork and better body control but for beginner and intermediate players who face a slower serve...its best that they work on increasing their footwork speed.
For those beginner players who are working on getting better volleyball passing technique and haven't yet developed
-great body control or volleyball ball control skills, this usually means
-either your body will be off balance or
-you will end up using too much of your upper body and arms to try and get the ball to the target.
The lesson here is to avoid trying to do two things at once.
