Another outstanding professional review 👏 Love the seppa! Not the usual boring type. For me, it's the little things lol

Thank you Karl! I feel the same way-that’s why ShadowDancer always gets me going with their shitodome and seppa like these. It’s crazy how much the whole feel of the sword would change if those things were your typical parts bin offerings.

Thank you for your words and encouragement! I really try to hopefully bring something slightly different to the table even with my minimal experience. Feedback like this gives me the fuel to keep on doing it.

Excellent review. The one-handed katana seems like it will be an interesting sword to use. If it is relatively light and can be used easily in one hand, then I expect it will be a nice cutter. Looking forward to the next review.

Thank you! The limitations will no doubt be my skillset. My guess would be similar to yours though especially because it’s not just a standard 26inch nagasa with one handed grip-everything has been scaled down a little to make it lighter and faster. So in the proper hands it SHOULD work.

That muramasa style hamon is so cool and stylish with the flare out towards the habaki. Nice video, looks like you could fit a hand and half on the tsuka, curious to see you cut with it.
@StudioGDT
@StudioGDT 6 ай бұрын
I tried that and I guess I don’t have huge hands but they are larger and the proper dynamics just weren’t there…but like I said, I’m going to give it a try so we will see! On the Hamon, I too like it. In a society that was so rigid and so bound by rules, it’s so interesting when you have people stand out from it like Muramasa or Musashi. I mean all it is is two literally bumps on something that is otherwise a perfect suguha, but it looks so awesome! I’m sure other smiths looked at his work in disgust…in all truth we don’t even know how things like that could have played in to all the rumors and negative press these swords received…

@@StudioGDT very true, I wouldn’t be surprised if muramasas bad reputation came entirely from being a nail that stood out too much

I love those menuki that are called “Vajra” and were known as astronomically power weapons of the Gods until it’s pedals where closed by a God because it was so destructive.

With a 26 inch nagasa it’s definitely outside of traditional wakizashi range which is why the katate-uchi is such an anomaly! It doesn’t quite know what it wants to be.

I would think this might fit the style of Miyamoto Bennosuke and by his Buddhist name, Niten Dōraku (1584 - 13 June 1645). Any thoughts about that?
@StudioGDT
@StudioGDT 6 ай бұрын
That’s a great thought! To be honest when I first handled the Muramasa that thought hit my brain-but then I thought about how Katate-Uchi was a transitive weapon…something in between the move from Tachi to uchigatana (two handed katana) I think Musashi choice of that style of weapon at that time would have been highly interesting. Even though we know he excelled at two sword style, I feel like his use of that technique would have been highly situational and in a situation where he would need to use his long sword alone, the katate-uchi would have been a poor choice. Totally my own thoughts and opinions on the matter with absolutely zero facts to back it up. Lol.
