You got the start of a fun project. Will be fun to get put back together and running.

It's quite overwhelming, but it will mean a lot to get it put together and running again.

It's good to have a long term project...because you will always have something to work on.

This will definitely be a long term project. But, it's nice to have this here at my house as opposed to my tractor projects which are at my Dad's farm about 60 miles away.

My first truck completely wore out. It was hard to let it go but it was time. It hurt for a little while but life goes on. You'll be busy with the Dodge and I'm thinking the family is grateful it is staying in the family.

10/4 on the small block and I had to get rid of my 8 mowers when I got laid up and had to give up fiddling with stuff too. So here's hoping all goes well putting the puzzle together. I'd be growling if it'd been a 2-banger though! CHEERS!

18 years ago, my father in law drove the Dodge to the guy's house. For those 18 years, he worked on it here and there, but finally his health failed, and he couldn't ever finish the job. My father in law didn't know what to do about the Dodge. But he had to get it out of the guys garage so that it wouldn't be sold with the estate. So he and I went in and grabbed all the parts we could find. I think we have most of the big parts... But I'm sure I'll find parts that we missed and are now gone forever. It will definitely be a puzzle, but I'd really like to get it together and running while my father in law is still around. It would mean a lot to him and my wife and her sisters to see that old Dodge driving again.

@@jonelsonster The BEST to you and I bet Pop will be there helping and probably that sweet girl to supervise sometimes. Never worked on a vehicle like that but plenty of mowers and around a lot of big stuff in the process. Have a FINE weekend and Blessings all around!

Do understand Jolenstar :) that Ford truck what did have for motor also transmission in it and Dodge would get modern 225 slant 6 or 318 , 360 V8 in 2 or 4 barrel and daul exhaust, 727 4 speed Automatic transmission and 355 to 411 rear end gears also power steering also brakes too ! Plus modern fuel tank and wood floors in box too! Update wire to modern electrical in 12 volt Negative ground too!
@jonelsonster6 ай бұрын
The Ford had a flathead straight 6 (226 ci). Transmission was are speed with compound first gear. No synchros in the transmission, so you had to double clutch all gears.

At some point you will likely regret it, BUT.....we can't keep everything.......And this Dodge is a very worthy project.

I actually felt a sense of relief when I sold my Ford because I knew I had lost interest.

I sold my 1953 R120. It belonged to my Dad, many years ago. I have regretted this every day since. The truck is sitting in a field, neglected, now.

I think the family ties to the Dodge mean more to me, my wife, and my father in law than any nostalgic ties I may feel about my Ford.

I think the 1949 Ford looks better, but sedimental value comes a long ways than just looks

I have always liked the body lines on those early Ford trucks. Especially the rear fenders. They are my favorite fender design of all the old fords.

Dude ! It’s two car garage

My little shop is 15x22. It has a single garage door. With my wood working tools in there, space is very tight. But even without any other tools, you'd be hard pressed to fit more than 1 vehicle in there.

Excited to see this one come together. Maybe don’t wast time with the V6 and go straight for the small block Chevy.

If my father in law wasn't the one who chose the BY, I totally would. But since he spent money buying that engine, I feel obligated to get it running.
