Valhalla is both a blessing and a curse. The story was great and Eivor in the main game (besides rejecting the hidden ones) was written very well. Even though we were not an assassin I had a feeling of being one that was lost in odyssey I can’t really explain. However I understand the world is bland and the stealth is broken and don’t get me started on the micro transactions. Overall I really enjoyed it and will play one more time but I understand if others despise this game

Valhalla is great, sure many complained it doesn't feel like Assassin and I agree but the main thing was Eivor getting the hidden blade as a gift and set up a whole story as who is Basim is and what he does before his arrival. I can't wait to see which time line we will be playing after Mirage.

Yeah Valhalla was so much variety and more to do in DLC, but I love Odyssey open world more due to naval combat, underwater treasures and it has unlimited side missions. I just find Odyssey world more attractive. I hate how door is always barred in Valhalla. Oh well.. opinion is opinion on each it’s own

I think Eivor rejecting the hidden ones fit her personality and the reasoning also was there, which made her not that good of a protagonist for an assassins creed main title game. Now if this was a spin off game and eivor was a companion in a mainline game similar to the way Mary read was to Edward kenway, it would’ve fit wonderfully. But it isn’t. Nevertheless tho I actually thought the world was really fleshed out with the unique side quests added in. Just completed “nostalgia” on my way to trying to one hundred percent all the regions and damn… that story was really sad and touching and it only is that way if you stay and investigate more.

Keep in mind, all of these games as of late are the start of the AC series and the old games, is when assassin stuff was in full swing. All these later games are the start of it and working into the swing of it as an assassin. In otherwords the first games should never have been made but Vallhalla and all of these ones should have been first and working into the old Ac games aka birth of the series into and towards its end. Keep in mind, old Ac games fed off of the teeny times that game makers were making games to.

I can say, Valhalla is my game to get a level of "Unity Stealth". Oddyssey for my Stealth Rush. Origins.... kinda got ruined because I like Valhalla Stealth more.

Basim is loki. The lead writer Darby said "sages are the exact same person as they were in the ISU age, just reborn. Loki can't "beat" himself. As he literally is Basim. Every sage ever since black flag to now, are aware that they are the same person as who they were in the first civilisation. All apart from Eivor, who magically can't figure out that they are odin reborn. But then again. They're the only sage to magically change gender aswell... Eivor makes no sense and has only harmed the understanding of sage lore. All so ubisoft could push female eivor as canon. Because lets be honest, female odin reborn, sounds as ridiculous as it actually is.

@@jcaaata7338 this is my point tho. We get detailed letters from a sage of Aita who embraced his past as an ISU during black flag. And we get a detailed description of what being a sage is like from a sage of Aita who didn't embrace the fact he is Aita in unity. Neither Aita sage spoke to their own imagination of Aita. That isn't how it has ever worked. I think the sad reality is that Eivor is just insane. It's the only explanation. Even Sigurd and Basim look at Evior as is he/she is crazy. It's a cool idea to show metaphorically eivor comment to terms with their past as odin, and moving past that, via "conversations" between the 2 of them. But all it has done is confuse fans. And it's also wroth to note, the devs who made the final chapter aren't the same people behind the base game. So their understanding of the story isn't what was intended originally.

I've always thought that through time both sides innevitibely became corrupt but there are true "assassins" or people we the audience align with. @@jcaaata7338 I get what your saying there mate. My favourite AC games are AC syndicate, and AC 3. But I really like unity aswell. It's like the combination of syndicate and AC3 to an extent. I love how all 3 of those games give 3 dimensions to the templars and the assassins. And I like the old lore for sages alot more. I really hope Mirage is like unity and syndicate. I do feel that syndicate suffered from poor tone, but the game was still really good to me. Even tho many fans misunderstood Jacob badly, and so the games story was hard for some fans to understand. But I won't get into that, because whenever I do, I risk people being rude. The lead writer of syndicate (who also lead the narrative of brotherhood, and worked on AC1, AC2, revelations and AC3) also has spoken about the misunderstanding of Jacob. But regardless, I do agree with you. Just for me, I love pre Origins AC best. That said, I actually do enjoy Origins. Even tho it dose have some silly retcons.

Eivor is a female name and her name is Eivor Varinsdottir (meaning Varins daughter). Even when playing as the male version, all writng etc is refferencing her av Varinsdottir. The male "Eivor" is just the Odin DNA she had that messes with the Animus. That's why male Eivor looks just like Odin..... She's a woman, that's always been canon.

I enjoyed the Mirage Quest but couldn't actually be bothered to play the last chapter. The brightside to all this new content is that you can play the mirage quest very early so you can play through the vast majority of the game with those new beasty robes that you get. Overall i have really enjoyed valhalla but the hooded combat coming in the last update is unforgivable to me. How does it take them 2 years to add a feature in that modders added in at launch?!?!

To be fair, it's been long confirmed a million times over that Eivor is female and Odin was male, and both their DNA are present in the sample used in the Animus. Darby McDevitt said before the game even came out that "Let the Animus choose" is canon, which, as it turns out, makes you play female Eivor/male Odin. Books and comics always showed Eivor as a woman too, man... I get that not everyone engages with that stuff but it's surprising that you're just now seeing this confirmed. I thought it was common knowledge by now lol. Maybe I'm just in too deep... 😅

I played the Roshan mission and I guess I'm just in "completion mode" because it didn't change the way I've been running around and just went all viking like it was a raid. I've even gotten to the point of not caring so much about it being an AC game and trying to find what little enjoyment I can get from it. To have such a large game with very little to do with being an Assassin, to me was the thing that killed and still kills me about it. To me this game is simply "Vikings: Valhalla".

100% agree on the weirdness of them having male Eivor playing Odin... AND on the male Eivor being better voiced - by FAR. And I loved Kassandra and vastly preferred Evie (particularly since she was the more stealthy character, but she was voiced extremely well also), so they can bite me about it being misogyny. Also, I enjoyed Valhalla, but it was by no means my favorite AC. Of the recent ACs, I liked Odyssey the best. Of all of them, I enjoyed the Ezio trilogy, followed by Odyssey and then Syndicate, Black Flag, Unity, etc.

This shit feels so fucking shallow. It's like they're doing the bare minimum to appeal to their fans without actually giving a shit. Having a hoodie and an assassin outfit with one mission that forces you to use the broke ass stealth system isn't suddenly gonna make me forget how shitty and uninspired the base game is. And if you were expecting Mirage it also feels like a slap to the face to have Roshan in this DLC since Mirage is supposedly taking place before Valhalla, but here they're just blatandly confirming that the character is gonna survive the prequel. Also just make female Eivor the only option available already. What's the point of giving you a choice if they're gonna keep neglecting it at any chance? I get that this is probably the devs way of pushing back against an executive demand so it doesn't bother me as much as it could.

Not a surprise that they have failed, since more than half their fanbase has given up on AC (really, the sales in units/number of players for the new "AC" games is less than half to those of AC before 2014). They only make money out of a minority that is willing to be exploited through microtransactions and buying a game piecemail (like this DLC here, being the end of a game released 2 years ago!!!).

The reason why it took them over a year to add the hood is they don't care about the Assassin part anymore. This game was the nail in the coffin for me after the disaster that Odyssey was. Well after dropping almost $1600.00 in helix credits on this game which included a sack load of large resource packs, (because honestly DoR ruined my life with its Divine quality crap and 3 extra Stat upgrade blocks per piece of armour and weapons.) I feel completely betrayed by Ubisoft yet again (farcry 6, immortals fenxy rising), for their refusal to include a game+ option. After ticking up 978hrs of game time I find it embarrassing to admit that I've spent 800hrs doing nothing but resource gathering for Iron, leather and titanium. 270 weapons and 70+ armour sets don't upgrade themselves, and DoR made that process even more depressing. I have 15 bows that will require 52,000 iron, 27,000 leather, and 2,300 titanium to do up to max. Not to mention a heap of bearded axes, Dane axes, spears, hammers, daggers, short swords, scythes and light shields. I still have 4 greatswords, 3 Atgiers, and 8 large shields to finish upgrading. Not to mention 18 armour sets including the mentor, magister, druidic, rus, celtic, Dublin champion, brigindine, galloglach and raven clan armours. Am I really expected to start this bullshit process all over again with a New Game??? Why can't Ubisoft fill all of the chests with resources and alter all of the mastery and tombs of the fallen chests with loot bags full of iron, leather and titanium. Then give us one more or two more sets of armour (superior quality! F*#k, crap, p*ss!) and another mount and raven skin and the Ironman/stormtroopers armours which honestly don't really seem to breach any copyright infringements I can see. Doesn't Ironman fly? And shoot rockets out of his suit? And since when do stormtroopers shoot a blast of firey energy form their abdomens? What kind of evil twisted world is this. Someone give Ubisoft a punch in the face for me and a kick in the ribs! Cause that's how I feel right now. I was soooooo looking forward to starting a new G+ with all my armours and weapons fully upgraded and ready to go boom. Now my Dream lies in tatters and shreds. Thanks Ubisoft for popping all my balloons and ruining my party, my life, and my bank account. Lol. Seriously I'm tired (finally) of been abused by these people. What a sad way to end things!

Oh wow!!! So I bought Valhalla during the recent sale (silly price, even if I didn't love it) and I got the Raven and the Cuckoo pretty early on. Got that armor and never found anything throughout the game that I preferred. Couldn't understand why no one ever mentioned it in "10 tips" or "Best...." videos. Now I know!!! It's because the content was super new!!! I had no idea! For the record, having been scared off by reviews making it look like there was next to no stealth in the game, I have really enjoyed playing it. Great game (though I could understand why purists would not love it)

I really hated that they put the female Eivor in the cutscenes, even if you played as a male Eivor. It made me feel like I played the whole game with irrelevant character and all my actions were literally of no value because the canon one was a female. They should've just do two versions of these cutscenes with a male and female Eivor, it wouldn't feel so weird and out of place. If they were going to do it from the start, they shouldn't even give us a choice to play as male if he's so unimportant. What's the reason to give us a specific character to play, only to replace him with a different gender one for the last step of our journey? Other than that The Last Chapter was absolutely underwhelming. It felt rushed and uninspired. I was so happy either way that I could finally put Valhalla to sleep on my PC after over 200 hours.

Choosing the Animus data stream is canon, she’s a woman with her last name as Varindotter (which is literally translated to Varins Daughter, similar to Thor Odinson being Odins son) with Odin being a male in Asgard because that’s how Norse mythology depicted it

@@chrismoore5333 so would you say the same thing about AC Odyssey or even the Witcher? The Witcher is meant to be an RPG that gives you TONS of choices, but you're forced to play only as Geralt. That's not a problem because he's the main character and that's how the story is written. Eivor is a female and you were simply given the option to play as Odin (essentially acting as a skin for Eivor in the Animus). Get over it man.

@@indiana_holmes when you buy Witcher, you know Geralt is the protagonist. It never tells you that your "wrong" for playing as your own gender in a choice game. Witcher is more like AC origins. Bayek was always the only hero of the story. And both games even feature a second character who is there, bit was never sold as the leading character... odyssey and valhalla lied to people so that the games would sell, because kassandra and female eivor are bad woke mirrors of their male counterparts. Ubisoft lied to people. It would be like if mass effect decided only men were canon, and told you in game, that yohr weren't valid, if you chose to be a female shepherd... that is clearly not OK, and that is exactly what odyssey and valhalla have done. Evior was always meant to be female, majority of the dialogue and choices in the game are toward a female Evior, unless your character is gay, & there's nothing wrong with it if your Evior is a gay male. I did enjoy the Last Chapter, it's pretty historically accurate with Alfred & Guthram's ending, I'm not sure about Fair-Hair's ending. Basim's body language during Hytham's ending was really sweet & I hope they expand on that by the end of Mirage. I do wish they did a better ending with Randvi & Sigurd though, that was a bad way to end on those 3 main characters, & the seer said how Ravensthrope was going to go to shit & just did nothing with that. Maybe it would've tied into real history again with Alfred's children expanding his territory when uniting Merica, Wessex, & Northumbira to create England, which would happen only 10-20 years after Evior left.

I lost interest almost a year ago. I’m not into games as services. A game is meant to be beat and moved on from. If they add on a truly interesting DLC, that’s one thing, and I’m not necessarily 100% in favor of that, but stupid festivals and raids. I play for story, not repetition.

I never understood the back peddling with the female Eivor being cannon. The box art, the trailers, even the promotional merchandise like Funko Pop’s are all male Eivor. What did some feminist get her shaved head in a twist over it? The voice actor and model for Eivor is what sold his character. It didn’t have the same delivery from the female voice actor and model. I don’t think the devs did a good job modeling and animating the female version

Oh boy... um... i'll try my best Eivor and SIgurd go find deep god hole in mountain God hole has ancient god tech (cuz why tf not i guess) Eivor and Sigurd plug themselves in, get transported to Valhalla, and eventually break out of the machine alive Basim comes in and fights Eivor Eivor "kills" Basim by hooking him to the machine for life --- JUMP TO FUTURE --- Girl goes looking for god tech Girl finds Basim hanging from machine Basim and Girl trade positions (cuz plot, i'm trying to keep it simple) Basim returns to surface and meets with Girl's crew Crew's like yeah sure whatever Basim's like "based, so, me too?" Crew's like "yeah welcome to the family" On a personal note, let me add that pacifiying England literally does nothing to effect this part of the story. It's just locked behind the progression wall of completing enough regions. But yeah, that's the jist.

The Last Chapter is likely the worst ending to any large-scale video game I've ever played. The worst most lazy-written ending I've ever seen. Just terrible. AC: Valhalla collectively pulls in hundreds of millions of views on youtube through incredible songs and videos, virtually the entire world knows about it - > Ubisoft proceeds to completely annihilate every inch of Norse Lore and Eivor's Story in one swift swipe with The Last Chapter.
