In UK we add calcium, copper and vitamin D3 . As most ratties need extdra of most. I can't believe any vet would recommend you do home treatments. I'm so sorry x

I was adding a supplement to her food if that's what you mean :) When they're on the shunamite diet they need it. Yeah, with hindsight I'm frustrated at myself but also at the vet who was the one who was supposed to be the professional and tell me what to do

I have a phobia of rats, but that baby is so beautiful and smart. She was so lucky to have an amazing caregiver that went above and beyond for her. You did a great job and the best you could❤️ Stay strong dear, Boca is proud of you, and she will always live in your heart 💜

I understand how hard it is. I lost my 6 month old rat badger due to him having a reaction to an injection at the vets about a month ago tomorrow❤

I’m so sorry for your loss! 😢 I had a somewhat similar experience this year unfortunately 💔 One of my girls cut her face so I took her to the vet. The vet gave her meds but then she started declining. I kept calling the vet and brought her back as an emergency and the vet said she was fine. I knew in my heart she was not. She kept declining so fast. I took her to another emergency vet and they put her on meds. But the next day she stopped eating. I brought her back to our original vet even though they had said she was fine before and at this point she told me she had aspiration pneumonia and was too far gone to be saved. So I made the decision to let her go peacefully. It still breaks my heart every day. I’ve definitely learned to trust my gut. In loving memory of my sweet girl, Violet 😢 Again so very sorry for your loss! Hugs!

Miss Violet will be missed 🥺 so sorry for your loss. That sounds so incredibly frustrating, but Im so happy to hear she had a parent like you. This comment gave me a lot of comfort because I'm dealing with a similar situation but with my girl Tanji now :( so thank you for sharing. 🫂

Boca will be missed, you did your best and she lived an amazing life. She will always be watching over you and it's not your fault. Boca was happy and loved all her friends. You rescued her and gave her the best life when she was near the end. She will never be forgotten. ❤😥

I think you did your absolute best! I don’t have rats, will never have rats because they are so smart, great pets but their health problems snd a short life spend is making owning them way too emotionally difficult and a heart breaking I do have guinea pigs and despite the fact that they live longer they do get develop a lot of Heath problems as well Last year I list 3 piggies and this year one was diagnosed with mammary gland cancer, slow growing I do take them to a very knowledgeable vet, spend a lot of $ but seems like scenario is the same each and every time … vet care, my care and passing so I have decided that I’m no longer will continue with guinea pigs as loosing them is very heart breaking As of now I have 7 but that’s it for me Hopefully your other ratites will live happy and healthy life

I have 4 rats, two male (Rugrat and Rascal). Also two female (Rhoda and Randa). I am trying to see which I work better with. You have to be patient with your self. You are doing the best that you can. My oldest is Rugrat, he is almost a year.

Rest in Boca I understand.i lost my fang Tuesday her sister wormtail missing her I keep crying I blame my self because I was at hospital Al day and found her dead in cage I have 7 other rats who miss fang I love fang they are my life 😭

I am also sad as fang who died her sister wormtail has a tumor IAM seeing vet to se if it cancer and hopefully be cured as I don't want to lose wormtail I love Al my pets

This is no way your fault. We are all first time rat owners in the beginning. We all made mistakes. But Boca had an underlying disease that is not your fault. Please don't blame yourself in any way. She lived a wonderful life with you. Continue to love and care for the rats you have and don't let this discourage you
