With all due respect, your rat cage looks pretty bare, no toys, nothing really. When you first got your rats their cage was full of things. You can add enrichment without much money, just a thought.

Hey! Yea I had to take out a lot for the sake of the temporary cage for Anya. Usually it's got a lot more lava ledges, stick ledges, chew toys and rope like things but I did remove a lot to fit the baby cage in. Maybe one of these days I'll do an updated cage tour when it's put together properly 😁I appreciate the feedback nonetheless!

I would get the oxbow adult rat food. I think the cheapest place to get it is at Amazon! Unfortunately I have, since this video, switched back over to oxbow because two of my girls seem to do significantly better on it, but I still love the shunamite for what it is

Hi! Oh gosh I've heard of that happening:( you should be able to freeze the bag and it will kill them, but I HIGHLY recommend joining the Facebook group because they talk about the best way to handle that! I'm definitely not an expert and don't think it would be smart of me to give my advice in this matter since I haven't gone thru it 💜 I'm glad you're liking the mix

Lost my baby on 28th of last month, still not over with the world crashing down for me. Just scrolling through rat videos to feel better, your video made my day. On that note you striked a very important string that your rat got pneumonia, can I know how do they get pneumonia? What are the symptoms that we should notice for. Mine one died because of pneumonia but showed no symptoms only got to know about it 24hours before while she was struggling to breathe. Sending your babies love ❤❤
@amethystscorner20 күн бұрын
They can get pneumonia from a variety of things. Usually it's from the air not being clean enough around them. Symptoms are a lot of sneezing and extra porphyrin build up around the eyes. Sometimes wheezing as well. I'm so very sorry for your loss. That sounds absolutely devastating. The best way I've learned to prevent pneumonia is to make sure their cages are clean and they aren't located right next to vents to prevent drafts. Sending your mischief love💜

So this video is picking up traction after a year or two of being published, and it's been brought to my attention in the last few days that at some point in the video I touch dirty bedding and then touch my hair and face. I do my best to avoid this, especially now I keep gloves in my pet room for this reason, cuz sometimes I'm just not thinking and I'm not grossed out by those things so my brain doesn't go into unsanitary mode if that makes sense. But I don't recommend doing this! 😂 I just wasn't thinking. Always keep washing your hands when doing deep cleans if you aren't wearing gloves 😁

My male rat Apollo had some sort of growth on his toe, it was never fully determined if it was a tumor or not but long story short after visiting the vet for the second time my boy...well he chewed off the growth 😮 I made sure to keep an eye on it and told my vet what happened, he ended up healing up perfectly fine! I swear some days I cant even remember which foot and toe it was 😅 now his nickname is Dr Appy and he is a certified rat surgeon! (He saved me so much money the sweet boy, he knew how much I was stressing it)

Glad she recovered! It really shows that you have the patience and commitment required for owning these animals. I breed rats and it irritates me when people get them and then decide to move somewhere that doesn't allow pets and so easily give them up, or they want to throw in the towel at the first problem they encounter as if they are a pair of shoes to just return for money back or to throw them away. I highly recommend anyone who wants rats get Care Credit and/or pet insurance. It really helps defray the costs. Your rats may not all be this costly but be prepared that it *could* happen.
@amethystscorner3 ай бұрын
I feel the same way. I've met a few people IRL who have demanding pets and it's really heartbreaking to hear how nonchalant they are. It's difficult for me to remain patient and remember it's not my place to tell them what's right 😅😅 But I really appreciate your comment. I always try my best. And yes! Nationwide does pet insurance for exotics and I use them for the rats

what if you dont have a scale? could you measure in table spoons per rat?
@amethystscorner3 ай бұрын
To be honest I'm not entirely sure. Everything I've seen has been based off of weight, if you get on to the shoot of my Facebook they might have that question answered. I will say you can typically find kitchen scales for like $3 at a lot of thrift shops or Walmart has some that are less than $10 :) or if you know anyone who would let you borrow it for a day, what I did initially was weigh it all out and then I marked every single container with how much volume ended up being the right weight and then you don't need the scale again, you can just use a marked container. I hope that made sense!

I'm really glad Sokura was able to get her tumor removed. She is such a strong rat. My rat Muffin use to have a tumor in the same area but I choose to not remove it. The vet near me was not as experienced in rat surgery's so it could have been risky. Sadly Muffin did need to be put down eventually due to the size of the tumor. It makes me really happy to see a rat that seucsefully made it through a removal surgery and is now living a happy life. Best of luck to Sokura and I hope she can keep living a happy life tumor free. 💕

I am so sorry to hear about Muffin. It's always a bit scary needing to rely on a vet that might not know how to do what we need. But I'm really glad that you got to give her the best life.
