​@@shizukagozen777 I think they said that because the story is inspired by fairytales (and forbidden love). Kinda like Princess Tutu, i guess ? While Princess Tutu is inspired by The Ugly Duckling and Swan Lake, Goodbye Lara is inspired by The Little Mermaid.

glad i ain't the only one who thought of tutu. An animal/creature falling in love with a human and then tries to become human themselves is one of my favorite kinds of stories. Plus, the classical music, the transformation, boy this really screams princess tutu!

In the original story she can't speak because the sea witch takes her tongue. Also at the end of the story they reference that in hundreds of years she may have the chance to gain a human soul by working as a Daughter of Air - I imagine the anime will be based on that but again turning her into a human instead of gaining the soul to go to Heaven.

I don't know if a full show can live up to how ludicrously good this concept trailer is. It's simultaneously nostalgic and a flex on what modern animation can do. The character design, color palette, backgrounds, lighting, it's all so good, but I'm concerned that it could end up rushed. Imo it absolutely should not be released until it's completely in the can. it's so ambitious that they'd be crazy to put it on a tight schedule, and yet, anime industry go brrrrr.
