​​​@@ShockTech18he would need the magical power, the stamina, the time to prepare, the type of enemy, etc. There's a lot to deal with in a middle of a fight.. also he's REALLY OLD.. I know anime jokes about having too much time to think and talk but actions have consequencies and there's not much leeway when you're directly confronting someone... I think that's why they made a tradition of counting down and poking at their ego by making them kneel and apologize.. buy some time..

@@ShockTech18 against any enemy where it is even needed to be used, it is highly likely that the cost would also be high. And we are shown here that against strong enough opponents (i.e spriggin 12) it didn't do anything at all. If Makarov tried his best to get it to effect even one really strong opponent it could easily lead to his death. Fairy Law always has a cost. It is just a matter of whether or not you can pay it safely enough to be worth using.

Gray was able to keep up with natsu because Ice devil slayer magic was learned by silver to fight END, also just being a devil slayer gives that advantage For example, natsu dragon force was able to knock mard geer around but it couldn’t beat him, but grays devil slaying magic was able to truly pierce and damage mard geer

Gray is just projecting as he always has just like Sasuke from Naruto. If you think back he has always tended to project his negative emotions onto the next target of his vendetta. It was Deliora who killed the people he loved but when he learned about Zeref he latched onto him and eventually all of his creations despite none of them having anything to do with Gray beyond Zeref creating the Etherious and letting his creations run wild and Keyes reanimating Silver after his death. Then, thanks to adopting SIlver's obsession, Gray latched onto E.N.D. as the symbol of his hate and now he can't reconcile the fact that things aren't as simple as he made them in his head. ============ Ice Devil Slayer Magic is the best counter to E.N.D. They established that back in the Tartaros arc as why Silver learned it and passed it onto Gray. ============ Berserker is the perfect spell to use in a war even if it's unbelievably cruel to your soldiers. ============ Makarov is a true parent and grandparent and most of his kids are adopted so that only adds weight to it. RIP Makarov Dreyar, beloved Father and Grandfather. You created the finest family the world has ever seen. ============ Erza is the only one who could have stopped Natsu and Gray because Natsu and Gray have trauma related to seeing their nigh-invincible big sister crying.

The facts Makatov did his duty as parents at the end earn my respect fully....Plus he didn't turn into storm...he just being lifeless due to forcing his Mana to 0% after using Fairy Law.

Not related to this episode, but a story I thought you might enjoy. I was watching Fairy Tail with some of my friends who haven't seen the show(we are currently on the Battle of Fairy Tail arc) and when Natsu and Gajeel were stopped by Fried's enchantment he guessed that they time travelled. I couldn't keep the laughter in and he said "What's next, Natsu and Zeref are brothers?" Keep in mind he only has knowledge of Zeref from Lullaby and the Tower of Heaven so this was him just screwing around.

2:00 so about gray saying that its because devil slayer magic corrupts the users mind over time, so gray cant think staight. its the same effect that dragon slayer magic had on acnologia which caused him to go mad. silver was also in a simular boat. edit: juvias death is also technicly natsus fault as invel was doing this so he could get gray to kill END.

The reason grey can keep up with natsu is because hes a demon slayer, if we were to power scale them, yea grey pale in comparison but just like how natsu has an inherent advantage against dragons, grey has it against natsu. Without that power he would absolutely get bodied tho lol

I think you are very confused. What action could fairy tail take that would NOT lead to Irene doing this at some point. All that Mavis did was get Fairy tail into a good enough position that Irene felt it was necessary at this time instead of later. And even saying that Mavis "provoked" Irene just feels not quite right. Irene is already their enemy and was going to do everything to stop them. What Mavis said didn't change that in the slightest... It's kinda like saying "Happy was silly to provoke Zeref" just because they are on opposite sides really 🤗

I don't think so but it's probably in the manga. The author always has at the end of chapters a Q&A with Lucy and Mira explaining a lot of things. but if not, I'd assume because 1. She didn't care enough which is a fact. Even Makrov had to remind her that they're like children to him not just soldiers. She see's them as soldiers because of the curse and 2. she probably doesn't have the power to pull it off. It still takes up a lot of magic energy. It won't kill her but she can still get exhausted.

@@delanireid It is likely due to the fact Fairy Law acts on the user's true feelings from the heart on who is decided as friend and foe. By the logic that her curse of Ankhselem hasn't activated anytime after her real body is freed, we can deduce that despite her outward feelings she still considers everyone to be pawns, like Makarov suggests. So due to that, even if she were to use Fairy Law (or even the original Law), it likely would do nothing.

@@Xinneon Yeah true, Natsu literally burned through space and time. That's far more powerful than planetary. I think an argument you could make is that even though they were fighting they still weren't going all out since they are friends. I doubt they actually wanted to kill each other anyway.
