It's been a long and wonderful 5 years. But sadly the time has come to part ways. This is my message to all of you lovely lovely people.

I wouldn't be surprised - between 1970 and 1990 it appears that 50% of the male population were named Andrew! I've lived vicariously as my tumbledown garage isn't safe to put anything in. Perhaps when my 2 offspring are bored of me, I'll get myself something old and small!

I have owned 2 Midgets that I purchased both when they were brand new, right off the showroom floor. I liked the mustor color so much that I chose that color for each 🚗. My first MG-MIDGET was a 1972 model with Chrome bumpers. Later after selling that car and wishing I hadn't, I purchased my second Midget, but by then it had those ugly rubber bumpers. The second Midget, also a mustor color, was a 1976 model. I know how emotional it is when you identify with your car. My next car was a "British Green" Triumph Spitfire. However, I got married and my wife and I started our family. We had 6 children, three sons and three daughters, so the two-seater 🚗 were not an option for us.

Thanks for the information and the fun. Lots of us have been there with a family, and almost always the hard decision is the right one. That said, Dad's solution was to encourage Mom to get a motorcycle endorsement and our family of four did trips and vacations that way for a number of years. Two MGs sounds like a lot of wrenching though. One 80s Saab convertible maybe? Best wishes, and thanks again!

Sorry to see the end of an era Andy. Have really enjoyed your videos. Humour along with good advice is always appreciated. A Sprite was my very first car in 1972 and I loved it....right up until a lady doctor totalled it by running into me and shunting me into the guy in front. But families come along and we all have to adapt. Now a nice MK IV MG Magnette.......

My father had the same challenge to find a classic car for the family 40 years ago. Even though his dream was a Morgan +8 - it was a Morgan 4/4 fourseater in the end. Awesome car that still is in the family and that I just fully restored. You will find plenty of good offers in the UK. This would be my recommendation for your next car

As said below, MGB GT is a family car. Oooh there was a stellar deal on a really nice Morris Minor here in town at the same place I bought my new-to-me Bugeye. Very similar setup, but loads more interior room. If I had known earlier :-) it went for $7500 and could be driven home. Not a spot of rust on her either. Figure another $2k to ship it? Also, loads and loads of classic cars where we're visiting in south Florida. Suffer from the same shipping problem but hey, take the family to Disney, buy a classic car and arrange shipping from Miami! Win win.

I sold my much loved sprite 19 year for the same reason when kids came along. I found your video as my kid now have driving license and I know longer need to be a taxi and I’m looking to get another midget/ sprite again. So chin up 20 years from now you may be looking for a new one to. I have found my old car which is still going strong and I’m in contact with the current owner, unfortunately he’s not looking to sell. Ps I also had a 1275 mini.

@@AndysMGAdventures My very first car was a 1967 MGB that my parents gave me. I never been with out at least one. Now I have 7. 68, 71, 79, 80, 79 & 80 Black USA limited Editions and a68 MGC GT. All are fully restored except the two 80s and the 68 MGC GT. No rust, all are California cars. All are convertibles except the MGC GT which is my latest addition.

May I suggest not an MGBGT. I have one and the rear seat is more of an upholstered bench. Not really suitable for safely transporting a child in this day and age. A Minor with a Midget drive train or an ADO16 would be nice!

As you say you’ll always have fond memories of Margo, she’ll never be forgotten. However if you have the opportunity do not let the Classic car connection go out. Fully understand the family responsibilities and sharing the time with them on adventures. I returned to my classic after the family had grown up, possibly left it a little too late. You’re in a better position buy a 4 seater classic 👍
