So sad to see, Southampton will never quite be the same without her. A wonderful ship and a worthy successor to Canberra. Thanks for being there and recording this.

Good evening Steve, 22:39 Sunday 18/08 here in Australia Thank you for this video I also shed a tear or two I wish her good luck and hopefully many more years sailing. I agree with Graham Nicholson about "Arcadia" and hope she has at least another 5 to 10 years sailing. Regards Lynne.

Good Afternoon Lynne 13:55pm here in UK, thank you for watching the sad departure of the now ex-Oriana from Southampton, I have heard on the grapevine that Aurora or Arcadia may be going in a couple of years after P&O have introduced their new build so when the time comes for Aurora or Arcadia then that day will also be as tearful for me and those who love P&O Cruises. Regards Steve.

Apparently her new name refers to an island with a strong musical tradition near to her new home port in China but when I first heard it from my Husband I thought it sounded like a reference to P anO Land and thus a permanent attachment to her 24 years of superb service to UK, coincidence?

Why, why, why, did P&O get rid of her? She is still such a super looking liner worthy of many more years. They did this when they abolished the ferry Pride of Bilbao to Spain doing the dirty to so many happy fans. I think the Arcadia is the most handsome liner there is and what will her fate be I wonder. I say good bye to P&O. Thanks for the video it did bring tears to my eyes to watch.

This is for sure a nice ship. But I think she is on the unwanted list of ships in the Nordic waters due to pollution level. Here in Norway the regulations of carbondioxide and nox makes many ships banned

Piano Land? .... strange name for a great ship.....
@seansparks28035 жыл бұрын
Xiamen in China is nicknamed ''Piano Land'' due to it's musical heritage and the fact that it holds one of the largest Piano museum's in the world. Xiamen is where the the former Oriana now renamed Piano Land is going to be based hence it's name. So not as ridiculous as you make out!
@davidgoodchild71525 жыл бұрын
@@seansparks2803 Wow Sean, you having a bad day or something? Colin didn't say anything about it being a ridiculous name did he? Calm down mate.
@jankirche70545 жыл бұрын
It's a ridiculous name for a ship. I hope it sounds less odd to the Chinese ear.
@seansparks28035 жыл бұрын
@@davidgoodchild7152 he said ''strange'' and I replied with the use of ''ridiculous'' not much difference really and I wasn't having a ''bad day'' I was just pointing out the reasoning behind the name of PIANO LAND. The name is no more ''stranger'' than other cruise ships such as CELEBRITY SILHOUETTE or CELEBRITY REFLECTION! When P&O Cruises announced in 2018 that they intended to withdraw the ORIANA in August 2019 after only serving 24 years with the company I was shocked. At first I was horrified when I found out that my beloved ORIANA was being sold to the Chinese and renamed PIANO LAND but as soon as I read the reason behind the name I immediately warmed to it. The renaming of the former P&O Cruises ORIANA into the Chinese owned PIANO LAND isn't as strange as it seems if you care to read my previous comments regarding Xiamen, which will be the Chinese home port for the PIANO LAND. Hopefully the PIANO LAND has many years of service life left in her as the Chief Engineer told me three weeks ago that he personally couldn't wait to see her leave the P&O Cruises fleet as her engines are in need of a total refurbishment or at least replaced. According to the Chief Engineer the ORIANA wasn't making enough money for P&O Cruises due to her continued maintenance, engine problems, lack of substantial balcony cabins, onboard spending down due to an older percentage of passengers who were more often than not repeat passengers who were not only spending less onboard but the shore excursions sales were also taking a big hit in comparison to the other ships in the fleet. Taking that all into consideration and the fact that P&O Cruises have two mega cruise ships on order, with the first of those the IONA entering service in April 2020 time had caught up with the 1995 built 1'860 passenger ORIANA. At least she has a new future as the PIANO LAND, strange name or not!
