I have a theory. It’s probably dumb but it involves the lizards. The idea is despite being called lizards they’re not actually reptiles in rain world but instead some sort of amphibian. It makes sense considering how moist and humid most environments in this game are. Even in Saint’s campaign it still makes sense as there are a good number of amphibians that are adapted to colder climates. Plus there are fully aquatic amphibians which explains the eel lizard for example. The heavy rains would allow these creatures to spread further out and venture away from water since they’d have no need to worry about drying out even with their thin skins since the ground is almost always moist.
