I started playing in May, and your tutorials are the best I can find. It's exciting to be a beginner and feel like I can play songs like this with a little hard work. I'm 2/3 of the way through this song and most of the way through I'm Still Standing. Looking forward to starting I Guess That's Why They Call it the Blues. You are my piano hero. Thank you!

Thank you SO MUCH for these detailed tutorials Steve! These mean so much to me and others alike during these rough times. What sets you apart from the other channels offering piano tutorials here on KZbin is that your tutorials are so incredibly detailed, making it possible for anyone to learn some of their most favorite songs, whether you have experience or not playing the piano! You never rush any of your lessons, which shows you genuinely care about us learning these songs. Keep doing all that you’re doing! I look forward to each and every single tutorial of yours!

Hey Steve! I've learned a lot through your videos over my very short piano career and I really like to see the quality of your videos improving so much. It makes it much easier to learn and I'm sure more fun to make on your part. Anyway, thank you so much for your help in teaching us all to play! I tell everyone I know who's interested in learning piano to check out your channel because of how good your videos are and how easy they are to learn from. Wish you the best!

Thanks Steve. Just came across your vid. I must say how happy I am. A well put together lesson, and finally I’ve found a tutorial pitched at my level. This too is my favorite song now as well. Genius how many different chords Elton packs into 1 song and it still sounds fantastic. Thanks a lot. Can’t wait to explore some of your other vids once I’ve finished this one!

Thank you so much for this video, it is so well detailed and explained I am really enjoying it ! I still have half of the song to learn, and am learning it at my own rythm. I used to play the piano when I was a kid, and I am back to it now thanks to your video :)

Like the fact that you have tabs so I don’t have to fast forward - play by ear and have most of it figured out so good to be able to get those tricky chords I can’t place right away! Awesome job !

Hey, thanks so much for the tutorials. I. found Color My World super easy to follow, BUT this one confused me a bit with all of the majors, minors diminished verbiage. That’s just me though. Once I used the pause button between each chord, I was able to write it down and then follow along. I appreciate your time and hard work. I really love when I feel some success…….after lots of practice.
@rcrewe37332 жыл бұрын
I found it confusing too at first so i started playing it in small chunks over and over and it seems to be coming together. Ironically so far the hardest part for me is the intro when you have to hit the F, then C and the C octave twice, im doing it but it don't sound right. LOL.

Thanks, Mr Steve. Did Elton always prefer octives the left hand across many of his songs? Perhaps because he was a dominant right hand player? A little tougher for me as I'm a dominant left hand player. But since I've conquered Prelude to Angry Young Man by BJ, I've gotten better with using both hands equally (for the most part).
@PianoManSteve4 жыл бұрын
Octaves in the left hand is a pretty common trend you'll see across most popular music by most players, and especially for piano/vocal only....otherwise you just don't have the bottom end you need for the song and by playing a simple and repetitive rhythm pattern in the left hand, you hold the song together the way a drum kit and bass guitar do. Great question! :-)

Steve thank you for this awesome lesson. I'm guitarist, just bought a MIDI controller to play and record music sounds and my voice for hypnotherapy audios through Ableton Live. Watched Rocket Man about Elton John's life the other night and wanted to learn the song on the guitar, and thought I'd learn it on the keyboard too, for personal pleasure, as this is a song I've loved from childhood which my late uncle would play constantly, as it's a work of art and genius. Thank you, you're an amazing teacher. Wish I had a teacher like you when I was a kid.

When are you gonna come down? When are you going to land? I should have stayed on the farm I should have listened to my old man You know you can't hold me forever I didn't sign up with you I'm not a present for your friends to open This boy's too young to be singing The blues, ah, ah So goodbye yellow brick road Where the dogs of society howl You can't plant me in your penthouse I'm going back to my plough Back to the howling old owl in the woods Hunting the horny back toad Oh, I've finally decided my future lies Beyond the yellow brick road Ah, ah What do you think you'll do then? I bet they'll shoot down the plane It'll take you a couple of vodka and tonics To set you on your feet again Maybe you'll get a replacement There's plenty like me to be found Mongrels who ain't got a penny Sniffing for tidbits like you On the ground, ah, ah So goodbye yellow brick road Where the dogs of society howl You can't plant me in your penthouse I'm going back to my plough Back to the howling old owl in the woods Hunting the horny back toad Oh, I've finally decided my future lies Beyond the yellow brick road Ah, ah

Thanks to you I could learn to play Goodbye Yellow Brick Road and Your Song, but I'll still use your other tutorials to lear other songs. Thanks so much for teaching only the original piano part and not the melody, it's really frustrating to try and learn a piano part to sing along to and all you can find are tutorials with the melody included. WOW!!! This was great!! What I really like is your approach. I am not much above a beginner. Know little about theory except some chords. You were very encouraging so I dove in anyways. At first I figured I had little chance of getting this down but I kept at it, section by section. I also use this service that allows me to practice with a backup band recording of the song minus the keyboard. Great once you have the whole song down and want to get used to playing around other instruments. Great stuff, will be checking out the rest of your tutorials because they're so darn good!!
