the nice thing about the dremels made for nails is that they are powerful enough to do the job but not so powerful that they're going to hurt if some hair gets caught around it (the hair will stop it before it pulls too hard) but I tend to use mine on one of the two lowest settings for that reason. And also so that they don't get the nail too hot.

Thank you for the thumb on thumb method and this video. It has really helped me speed up the process on my little guy.

You could also use a spray bottle to wet the hairs of the paw a little bit, or use a fine net like the one onions come in the supermarket. It works like a charm! 👍🏼🐾

good idea !! i had been thinking a nylon knee high or thin sock might work if you just poke a few holes for nails and add a little fray stop to keep the hole small

It’s a DiamaGroove! Pricey at $150 but it’s amazing. Here’s a video I made when I first got it: kzbin.info/www/bejne/foPQqXunoZaHbbM

I’ve tried a corded Dremel brand with the sanding tubes. Then bought 2 different cordless brands which have the roughened metal grinding heads which they claim is diamond, but we know it’s not. All of these grind VERY slowly. Both me and my Cairn Terrier get tired because it takes so long and not much nail is removed. Your tool is fast. Is it because the head is the real diamond one that is so expensive? What do you recommend for home use by a non professional?

No, it’s not because of the DiamaGroove. I’ve had equal success with all kids of bits. Here are some options online to consider: www.affordablegroomingshears.com/product/80-coarse-grit-dremel/ groomersbestfriend.com/product/diamond-dremel-without-nail-tip/ There must be some other issue causing your dremel to be underpowered. Even the cheap sandpaper bits (with the right grit) should work just fine!
