I have a 7FC blade and have no idea what FC stands for, or even just plain F. Can someone help me with that, please?

Also: is it proper to use a blade without using the comb attachments?

Because of a knee injury, my dogs quicks have grown to the point the vet will not trim her nails. I’ve tried grinding them myself but it’s like a WWE wrestling match to get her to allow it. Short of making her comatose, what can I do to get her more calm during those sessions?

I realize this video is old, but you've givin me so much hope for my 2 year old GSD...life immediately happened 4 months after I got him and his nails have gotten too long. Finally got him to except the nail trimmers (really is a great dog), but yeah...his nails scare me...seeing this tells me to find the nearest groomer and have this done...thank you.

I use a lickmat with peanut butter spread on it to distract my dogs while trimming their nails. They now compete to be first up for nail rimming time rather than dreading it.

Thanks for this video, ordering that Ovatavo bit. Been using the regular sandpaper ones with the Dremel, trying to get a nice smooth rounded nail from a flat surface in a short amount of time is very difficult!

My last dog, who was 5 years old when I adopted him, a) was an 85lb scaredy-cat, and b) had jet black nails that were slightly overgrown. The “snap” of nail cutters scared him, and of course with the nails being solid black, there was no way to see the quick. So I got a dremel and that didn’t scare him at all, so I just “filed” his nails with the dremel a little bit every week or two. I got them to a nice, short length that was safer for him when running around in the woods. It was years ago, so I don’t remember how long it took, but it wasn’t that long. (Unfortunately he fell ill suddenly and had to be put down a year and a half after I got him. So less than a year for sure, probably under six months.)

Thanks for sharing this helpful video! Do you clip before you use the Dremel, or do you prefer to just Dremel & grind down the dog's nail without clipping?

You are great at explaining but could you do a short video showing large overgrown black nails? I purchased a dremel and want to do a good job on my dog’s nails but 90% of them are jet black and I just want to make the experience was as positive as can be. Thank you!

Ryan's Pet Supplies has sharpened those 5 in 1 blades for me many times. They even provide a mailer box for blades so you can ship them in and they'll ship them back. The box holds many blades so you can send in your regular blades too. Great service.

If I wanted to start doing grooming house calls, how would you suggest I trim nails without a grooming table?
@MakkaDot28 күн бұрын
I found a way to bring my grooming table with me so I no longer need an answer to this! Any tips apart from your amazingly helpful videos would be much appreciated though
@GoodDogGrooming28 күн бұрын
Knee pads. It’s nice to have a kneeling cushion, but the dogs end up moving around and when you reposition you usually don’t bother taking the cushion with you. Hopefully some clients will have a suitable table already that they’re willing to let you use. I also have a few videos demoing dog nails without a grooming table, especially big dogs like my Boxer Bender. Here’s one: kzbin.info/www/bejne/rGWyXpd4d76nZ7Msi=_vC7t-y83XgMIFVs

Thank you so much for this video! I recently adopted a greyhound and took him to the vet for his first nail trim- his quicks are really long so they advised to do frequent but small trims every 3-5 days but without any further instructions or explanation. My grey tolerates the dremel just fine and now I have a bit more confidence in how to use it to help him and get those quicks receding so he can get back to his regularly scheduled zoomies!

For the catastrophic. I was working on abandoned house and looked over the fence and here was this mud ball of a dog Hood made a trench around a tree. I asked the owners and they said take him. He was supposed to be a pet for the child who was allergic to it I took it to the vet for cleanup and shots. I had never even considered toenails. The pup turned out to be a Lhasa Apso. This breed grows hair it'll touch the floor in a week. Nails are the same consistency is hair. The dog's nails were so long they rolled under the pad. This was 60 years ago so he was an old vet he grabbed the dog and just cut him off to where you couldn't see them anymore and then dunk the Hope huh in a cup of white antiseptic or flour. That's the old school and you're not going to find anything better. Turning a page my Pyrenees grows hair and toenails very rapidly but it's my pup that I'm determined to chase the quick. I have wasted a lot of money on grinders. As a machinist Google Amazon dog nail grinder. It's blue in color and comes with a cutter which I originally decided had the right angle amongst all these and you could engage the toll without the dog trying to rip out of the triangle holder mechanism that most of the blades have. Model y a b i f e God bless you guys and remember to vote out anybody who got us into this murderous War pattern

I'm thinking maybe because the dog was older his nails and quick were more slow growing than normal. I'm trying to clip my pekengnese who is older to a normal length and we both hate it because I accidentally got his quick 2x (the black nails) but his nails were so long they began to twist so I'm doing them every 2 weeks until it's the right length and so far they are a lot better... thank you for the encouragement! I'm watching as many as I can so I can get better at clipping his nail. ❤

I have a long hair chihuahua that I've always taken to the groomer, but I just can't afford a $120 every month. I have an almost silent dremel tool that also has a bright light to see the quick. My question is, does it matter in what direction you dremel? Thank you and God bless all the furbabies and those who love them 👑🙏💞✝️🐾🕯
