I made her new Jeep look Old School!
My wife secretly always wanted a Jeep when she was growing up. We were finally able to make that dream come true and then, we fixed it up with some new wheels and tires. We also installed a Teraflex 2.5" Spring Suspension lift kit with shocks from Offroad-source.com.
Tires are 295/75R 16
Rims are American Racing Rims Baja 16"X8"
If you have a Jeep or 4x4 truck and you're looking for wheels and tires or a lift kit, check them out:

The Koch family continues to create award worthy videos. The story telling and cinematography continues to impress. However, as a former IH Scout owner, (1965 Mod 80) who often fell asleep dreaming of pulling Jeeps out when they got stuck on flat ground as Jeeps do, I was saddened at seeing yet another Scout go over to the dark side. Please continue to tell everyone that you got the Jeep because Kara wanted it. I still think often of my Scout and how the vacuum windshield wipers would stop when going up a hill and wipe at double speed when going down. Busting a rear U joint and driving home in a Scout version of FWD. My Scout never, ever let me down.

Haha! I love that story Archie. I have experienced the vacuum wiper fun! It was full blown Scout madness at our house for at least a decade or more and I love Scouts. There's a story to be told there some day for sure. Thanks for watching and I'm sorry about going to the dark side. I'm struggling with it too!!!

The wife and I are looking to buy an older Jeep and was looking at some of your videos as what you have is exactly what we'd like. Watched this tonight and was shocked that you are literally at my house in this video. The back half of building KB Scoops is in aling with the Upstairs is where we live. Even see my wife's Malibu and our old Envoy, Impala and Camper in the overhead shot. Our living room is 10 feet above your head. The Camper is even set up and we only took it out once that summer to go to Chain O Lakes so it was either when we were loading it or when we were unloading it.

The wife and I really enjoyed your video. Super cute. We just fulfilled my wife's child hood dream after driving her dad's old CJ. She was after something similar, a 2door manual. We are about to buy our second jeep, a 4door Rubicon, after going on group trail rides, we are addicted, and need more room for camping and such adventures...Thank you for the video. Very cute.

My bubble gum wrapper purchase was a 6 finger... I was totally taken back by their TV ad. "Six finger, six finger, man alive. How did I ever get along with five?" I mean, the Cold War was going strong and spies were everywhere. I needed a secret gun that shot plastic bullets, bombs and message capsules. The message clicker and hidden pen was a necessity if I was to get captured. And, no one would evvvver think to count how many fingers you had.... it would be a cinch to put in your hand and let it just hang out as a newly adopted index finger... no one would suspect a thing. For $0.25 to cover shipping and handling, 100 Double Bubble wrappers would have it delivered right to my mailbox! It took a whole summer and a lot of help from my buddies and family to come up with the wrappers... but, I got it! The first thing that I did was to write a secret message with the secret pen and shoot it in the secret capsule to one of my friends. I practiced shooting the plastic bullet and bomb until I knew the range and aim just as well as I knew my homemade slingshot! Then, I decided to take it to school. Back then, the school didn't have any rules about "No Guns Allowed". In fact, on Show & Tell Day there was always someone bringing in their BB Gun, single-shot .22 or Bow and Arrows to show. The teachers were accustomed to dealing with these and it wasn't even thought to be a big deal. So, why would a plastic 6-Finger be a problem? Especially if I did just like the TV ad and snuck it in.... in plain sight? Well, it turns out there was a rule about bringing weapons into school.... you couldn't sneak them in! I learned this about 30 seconds after walking through the door. All 8 boys in my 4th grade class gathered around me to see it. Their awestruck gasps and whispered excitement, at the coat rack, told the teacher that something other than stowing galoshes and PB&J sandwiches was going on! When she came over to see what was up, we spread out like a flock of chickens evading a diving Red Tail Hawk. I headed for my desk. Walking as coolly as I could with my 6 Finger hidden in plain sight... just like on TV. My goal was to get there with it undetected.... so that I could hide it until recess. But, I didn't make it. You know Neil, I just knew that the teacher never watched Saturday morning cartoon ads, I also knew that no one could ever spot a flesh colored 6 Finger once it was properly ensconced in the hand of a well practiced, wannabe spy. After all, who ever counts fingers? Who can distinguish between its pink plastic flesh color and that of a full summers tanned hand? It was practically invisible. I just knew that I smelled a rat! One of my classmates must have been a Double Agent Spy... because as I was taking the last step to get to the safety of my seat, Mrs. Grant stepped in front of me and held out her hand. She peered down at me with that stern teachers look that left no question in my mind that I'd been caught.... behind enemy lines without a chance for escape. No amount of bullets, bombs or secret messages were going to set me free. I was totally and thoroughly busted. My only hope was to push the limits and shove both hands in my pockets. (Just in case he'd told her to count my fingers.) Well, that went just as well as you'd expect... as soon as my fingertips hit the seams of my pocket liner, Mrs. Grant said, "Empty your pockets." Well Neil, the prized 6 Finger and all of its ammo were scooped up and placed securely in her desk for the remainder of the day. I got it back along with a note to my parents just in time to get on the bus to go home. I lived with the knowledge that one of my school chums was a rat for years... not knowing who it was made me suspicious. It changed who I told secrets to and how I chose buddies to have my back when I needed it... until about the 8th grade. There I learned something that told me it wasn't that the 6 Finger was suddenly visible. It certainly wasn't because Mrs. Grant had been able to count my fingers. And, it wasn't a double agent who had ratted me out.... You see, there was this girl. She was kind of cute and she started talking to me. I found that when I was conscious of what I said, how I acted and especially how I walked; it was awkward. One of my buddies told me, "Why don't you walk normal when she's around?" In an instant, I realized that when you tell yourself to walk normal... you can't do it. I also flashed back to that moment in Mrs. Grants class... telling myself to act normal. Walking in agonized stiffness.... channeling my innermost spy senses telling my arms and legs to just blend in..... BINGO! That's how she knew. Neil, It's a shame that ?Kara's? bubble gum purchase didn't work out as well as mine.... but, then again, look at where she got to today! Like my, long ago lost, 6 Finger.... She doesn't have a toy. She now has something greater. The memories, the life lesson and in her case.... the real thing! Thanks for the excellent story.... your ladies did a great vignette flashback.... and that Ice Cream Getter will really come in handy next winter, when you need to go get Pop Corn for those shut in movie nights at home! FYI... here's the TV ad for the retail sale of six fingers... kzbin.info/www/bejne/e525q6ZmoaqIgtU

That. Is fantastic! I enjoyed that story immensely! Halfway through I was thinking "I'm gonna have to Google this 6 finger thing and like a fit at the end, there was the link to the commercial. I can't see how every young boy wouldn't have wanted one of those! I want one of those!!! Hope you got that "spy walk" straightened out for all the subsequent missions that were still sure to follow! Boy, in today's "two day" shipping world it is hard to imagine waiting an entire summer for something like that. What character building that must be to go through that entire process with the wrappers and the submission. Same for Kara. Except she never got her fulfillment. When she described herself waiting and pacing by the mailbox everyday, I could picture our girls doing that too. I thought it was time to try a little bit more "acting" in one of these so that's what we came up with. Glad to hear the "scene" was well received and that our reenactments weren't too cheesy. It is always striking to me how seemingly everyone has a relatable story to about anything I share in these videos. Further proof that we are all more similar than we are different I believe. I'm thankful to have so many folks watching and sharing in our experiences. So many so that I'm starting to have difficulty responding to all the comments if you didn't notice. But, I still look forward to yours and enjoy your relatable reflections. We've had the Jeep a couple months now and it has certainly helped to support our ice cream habit and I'm perfectly fine with that! It's also fun to see Kara jump in it and take off somewhere knowing that she had always wanted one. Next task is to get it outfitted to pull behind the RV and then the real fun should begin! But come this winter, the popcorn and movie idea is stellar! Wish us luck!

@@digdrivediy You made several good points.... one in particular was the instant shipping part... a couple of years ago, I was needing a router bit to plane a plank for my daughter's floating walnut desk. I ordered it from Amazon... they offered free next day receipt. I took them up on that. Later that day I realized that it was Saturday. That meant.... It was coming on Sunday! Well we live in a rural area with the closest big city located 60 miles away.... I had never seen an Amazon truck delivering on any day.... especially not on Sunday. Well. I didn't see one on that Sunday either.... Instead, a US Mail truck pulls in our driveway! You see, they contract with all sorts of delivery services in our area..... FedEX and UPS for most purchases but on smaller envelop sizes, it is the USPS. Now. no one can figure out how to make the USPS profitable....But, Amazon did figure out how to get them to deliver on time! Neil... just keep telling stories your way.... you are doing great! PS: Try it some time. Ask one of your girls to walk normal and see what happens!

Old school is winch in front and back, mudder tires, so you can use the thing as was meant to be used, with huge tires so you can actually go 4 wheeling, lower gears so you can truly mud with it. Dude it’s pretty crazy how much stuff we have in common 🤣 we’ve got a 94 yj that I despise myself. It’s hers, not mine... and I’ve been supposed to be rebuilding it for about 5 years now. Ours is in the middle of a frame swap, and we have a brand new 4” lift for it too. We’re going with Mickey Thompson classic ii’s and probably some all terrains ourselves. If not all terrains, some radial tsl’s. It’ll get done one day... just not tomorrow. 🤣 we’re probably going to keep the 2.5l in it, it is a 5 speed too, so it won’t be terrible for her. It would be a ton easier to just find one done tho. Happy anniversary guys!

Nice rig; thank you for sharing. Brought back memories of before the Eisenhower Tunnel in Colorado I once rode over the top of Loveland pass in heavy snow in a friend's old jeep WITH NO DOORS. I think I was 16 and my friend was 18. I will never forget looking at the sheer drop-offs a few inches from the tires and we went sliding and bobbing along through the ice and snow. Would I do it again? NOT A CHANCE haha.

I like the choice of wheels and tires, also the lift! Glad the entire family enjoys this new to you vehicle. As for Jeep’s part of me wants one but the fact there are so many of them around keeps me from it. I’m hoping to end up with a project vehicle soon. Our county is going to be selling off some old buses by sealed bids, one of which I’ve got my eye on. A 1994 International 5 speed with a DT466, my dad drove this bus from new until it was retired to a spare, I rode it when I was in school as well. All kinds of crazy possibilities! Great video again, take care!

Your Wrangler looks great! I’ve had 5 of them over the years starting in 1998, 2 of them with lift kits. Definitely like the lifted Jeeps better. Also, I’m like you as far as the rims and tires… maybe a little “old school” but I like the look much better.

Looks Great! I love it. I was born in '86 and grew up with that old school look. My dad owned Bronco's, Blazer's, Suburbans, all with a similar look. I owned a couple of Jeep Cherokees through college and I miss them! Anyways, have fun with that Jeep! Lots of fun for years to come.... Now.... When are you going to clean up that Bronco?????

Nice job! Jeep looks great. When I bought my Jeep it had 20” “fancy” wheels. I hate the look of them. Ordered steel “wagon” wheels the day after I bought it. In my mind, black steel wheels are old school. Never was a fan of chrome.

Hey cool video Neil. Just a question. How do you get so many interesting video angles? Like the shots of you driving down the road? and getting out of the car? It makes for great viewing, but just wondering how you go about it? like is it lots of different takes to make the shot? or do you have someone else filming the scenes? and following you for the drone footage? however you do it, its awesome, have been perusing many of your videos.

Great looking tires and wheels. By chance can you confirm that this is the correct one for the JK: AR1725873? I used the chart on American Racing's website, and it's coming up to that part # (AR1725873) based on the 5 x 5 pattern (5 x 127) for the JK. However, when I go to Summit Racing to order them, they're telling these don't fit the JK...so confused. This is definitely the look we're going for with our JK, but just want to be sure we're looking at the right apple and not the wrong orange.

We bought our wheels and tires through our local Belle Tire. The PN on the receipt says: "AR1726873B". The description reads: "16X8 5-127 AR AR172 BAJA BLK +0". Hope that this can help in some way and thanks so much for watching!
