This film is a perfect example of what makes Scorsese so special. He manages to craft this ensemble piece that is a deep character study. You know everything you need to know about every character within seconds of screen time. The dialogue oozes its own personality and history for every character. They feel like legitimate people. This is what every American gangster film tries to emulate. No one dare tries to emulate The Godfather. Often glorifying the lifestyle at the beginning but leading to death, destruction and mental instability. Quite the difference to how we do gangster films in Britain, which could be an episode itself, specifically a Guy Ritchie episode.

Goodfellas is great! BUT I personally enjoyed casino, the departed, and the Irishman a little more. Goodfellas though is great movie to show us how the mob rolls, how cut throat and ruthless. Pesci in this is freaking gold though! When he shot that kid in the foot was crazy. But the line in the beginning " as long as I Remember I wanted to be a gangster " is one of the best ways to open a movie gets you real excited. Great episode gentleman having a blast watching the old videos
