I'm really looking forward to the movie based on Michael's life. From joining the mob as a young man in the early 1970s to save his wrongly incarcerated father after he was framed for bank robbery, to becoming the face of his own KZbin channel. What a film _that_ is going to be.

They should call it “the golden years” especially if they are going to cover the time that his dad was in the life. Then during the ending credits, they could give an actual news footage compilation of all the 90’s wise guys going to court or jail, as a way of saying goodbye to the golden years.

My question for Michael Franzese is this: With every story that I hear from a former law breaker, they only stop when put in prison, or killed. You were making enough money to retire before you got caught. Did you ever consider walking away from the life and living off of your legitimate businesses? Was that even an option?. I know that the people you kick up to would want to you to keep earning for them. Could you have passed things over to an associate in order to walk away?
@m16ty2 ай бұрын
They never never do, the vast majority of legitimate business men don't either. Greed has a lot to do with it, but in the mob you also have to worry about getting at odds with them. If he had just "quit while he was ahead" the mob bosses would start getting suspicious as to why, and they would also be upset to loose the revenue stream. Also, it's real easy to say that about a multi-millionaire but most people in general are like that. I won't speak for you, but I remember when I was young and newly married, we didn't have a lot but all my needs were met. Now that I'm 50, I'm not rich by any stretch of the imagination, but I'm vastly ahead of where I was in my 20s and I have a lot of stuff that I like but don't really "need". The argument could be made that I should have quit (or at least slowed down) years ago.

Hi Micheal, Just to let you know, when you start learning Italian, you will probably find that it doesn't sound the way your father and grandparents spoke. Thats because they probably spoke napoletano, which is quite different from mainstream Italian. My family thought my Great Grandma forgot Italian because people from Italy would speak to her and she had a hard time understanding them. But last year I discovered the Neapolitan language and realized my Great Grandmother didn't forget Italian she never spoke Italian. Years ago, I tried learning Italian, and I recalled my Great Grandma teaching me "Italian" words, and they weren't pronounced the same as in the book. Now I know why.

I'm guessing the gas scheme has to be, the gas supplier would bill for a lot less than what Mike would actually take delivery of. The gas supplier (inside guy) would get paid cash for the difference and the underground tanks were filled up. I'm guessing the cash sales were not reported and all those gallons going into peoples' gas tanks, the difference would be the state and/or federal gas tax.
