I really like that they add the "cheating" parts/confessions in these types of videos because its s just so much more realistic than pretending its super easy to just up and change your diet or stop eating certain foods that you're use to eating. People are made to think that this kinda stuff is easy when in reality it takes time to mentally adjust. My best friend this past year was diagnosed with celiac disease which she probably had her whole life because she's always not felt good especially after eating and she still has days where she'll eat a piece of candy or two because she's new to this whole gluten free lifestyle and her body still craves it. @kimberlyhaines1074 жыл бұрын
Imagine 28 years...No one noticed I had undiagnosed PTSD, and add the anxiety disorder. I slowly lost the ability to eat, lost 160 lbs in 10 months. Ended up going into liver and respiratory failure. Technically should be dead. But I permanently ruined my thyroid when I had no issues before, because I became malnourished and had to have a 24/7 feeding tube coming out of my stomach. For the 7 weeks I was in hospital, and for awhile after, I couldn’t have breads or rice - stuff that could lump together when trying to digest. It could have possibly blocked my digestive tract and I would have died as they said I would have died when putting me under to remove the blockage. That’s how sick I got. Almost 2 years later and almost every day I throw up at least once, or have acid reflux so bad it comes out my nose. And whether I can handle a certain food changes from day to day. It’s why I have a hard time keeping weight on, which panics me because if I get below 130 lbs, I have to have the feeding tube again. Meaning either stuck at home hooked to a machine that’ll wake you throughout the night when your “food” runs out, or having to take a syringe pump and finding a private clean place, which would have been a pain because I was so ill they had to do it slowly (whereas others can have the liquid pushed in quickly) because when they tried to do it fast, I immediately would almost throw up. I thought I was going to be stuck with a feeding tube for MONTHS (like I literally had no muscles in my legs or arms, like 3 nurses could barely hold me up) - thank God I practically force-fed myself and only had it in for 2.5 months, though I could have had it out sooner but had to wait for a doctor appointment (you don’t have to go under, they just deflate the balloon like thing that prevents it from coming out, and pull the tube out; you have a hole in your stomach that closes up surprisingly in about 5 days). Because when I was in hospital they told me of an option where it’s like a backpack, and the bag of “food” (think protein shakes on steroids) sits in it with a tube leading out of it, and you connect it to one of the ports in your stomach. So it’s like the machine (that’s like an IV machine that follows you EVERYWHERE), but portable and no need for manually pumping it which my mom was paranoid to do initially because she was afraid she’d do something wrong (and I guess she was afraid that could mean hospital again). And since my insurance was agreeing and covering most everything (since I hit my deductible or out of pocket), that I thought I’d get it, but they wouldn’t give me the backpack pump machine. There IS a possibility that since my specialist hospital was using a very new type of feeding tube port (as the rehab place I was at for 3 weeks hadn’t seen it really), that maybe it wouldn’t have been compatible, but I don’t think they would have told me about it if that was the case. But part of my port ripped and was prone to leak, so I just constantly ate protein (eat a lot if you’re sick or have open wounds to heal - a fall and ill health gave me a blood infection and necrotic tissue on my left elbow that layers of skin and tissue were black and you could see my tendons), and didn’t use the machine after leaving the hospital and barely at the rehab place, and never once I got home. So I guess it worked out I didn’t get the backpack as it would have been a waste. They also told me no matter how good my liver levels are, I can never drink alcohol again. So I guess it’s a good thing I rarely drank alcohol anyway - except one time eating at Jazz Kitchen in Downtown Disney at Disneyland, they had a Banana Foster martini, and I was hoping they still made them, and I loved Strawberry Daiquiris. Virgin ones don’t taste anywhere near as good - or at least at one of our local Japanese places, because I’ve had good ones when I was underage. But after all the damage I did 2 years ago, who knows (after turning 30 last month on the 25th) what my digestive system will tolerate. I’m legitimately scared at the prospect, fingers crossed. But given advancements in food alternatives...

Just put 2/3 of olive oil together with 1/3 of balsamic vinegar, add sugar, salt and pepper, do a little taylor-swift-like Shake it off and voilà

Ok can I just say, as a person with coeliac disease it’s completely different to what they depicted in the video. I literally cannot have gluten or wheat and accidentally “cheat” some days. It’s not a trendy diet, it’s a lifestyle that took over me when I was diagnosed with it. If I eat gluten or wheat, even just a tiny bit, I will be so so so so sick for the next week (throwing up, passing out, not being able to get out of bed ect), which will then eventually kill me in the future if I don’t follow my diet. There’s so many gf options in the store. I’m kinda frustrated that they treated it like a diet that you try, not have to live with. ugh it annoyed me lol. Mines really bad, this is my experience. I’m not saying that others can’t do this. I’ll just die if bowel cancer if I eat gluten lol help Also, It’s spelt coeliac disease in Australia, so that’s why I’m spelling it like that. Bye bitches

American Celiac here 👋 and I completely agree with you! I hate when people treat this like a diet you can cheat on, when in reality, eating gluten is the freaking WORST. I have people all the time that tell me "you're so good, I don't know how you don't cheat and eat gluten every now and then!" Like ummm, because it will make me suffer????

I mean, they clearly states they WERE tested and are reactive to gluten and wheat. It’s like, my boyfriend has mild nut allergies but it’s still an allergy just because he doesn’t go into shock? Like stop, ofc some people suffer more, and they didn’t try and depict it as a diet, if anything, you should be happy they’re raising awareness about celiac disease because most people don’t understand it, of course they’re testing to see if it makes a difference in their lives and OBVIOUSLY they’re showing just how hard it is, to suffer from celiac disease but the options aren’t there for things you want to eat everyday, unless you buy special GF foods (and where I’m from they’re expensive + bland+ only in super health stores do you get a way huger range but obviously it’s not readily available everywhere so...). Also, I have a gluten allergy but I’m not getting mad at people for not knowing what it is or testing how it changes they’re lives without gluten (which is exactly how people with celiac disease have to test it anyways??) maybe more people will research about it and find just how important it is for people with celiac disease to not get into contact with it!!! BUT if people who do have gluten allergy, still want to eat food with gluten, who cares? They even said at the end they felt less bloated and in less pain, and didn’t have to take medicine, and even their other health issues got better so wtf?
@mags5065 жыл бұрын
you wanna know why? because it IS a diet that to try and they don’t have to live with FOR THEM. this is just you being mad at the world you can’t eat the same way others can. if i lived in life being pissed at people even being able to be near walnuts without dying id spend my entire life being boring and obsessing over it.

I’ve had to go gluten-free due to health reasons, too, and I live in an area that’s starting to offer more options. But something I’ve found that works for me (may not work for everyone) is oat flour. It almost works like wheat flour (yay pancakes!). Just be careful to find a brand that processes their oats in a gluten-free facility. I buy rolled oats in bulk from a dry goods place near me and use a coffee grinder to make my own flour.

A lot of people who are gluten intolerant have auto immune responses to it, I am one of those. I get swelling in my joints not visible but I tell you the amount of aches I get is unbearable. My dad has MS and sense he’s come off gluten he’s been a lot better. He’s had it sense I was a baby and normally someone who’s had it that long would be in a wheelchair, but with a lot of research he changed his diet and takes his vitamins and it only flares up when he eats gluten or high sugar amounts. Arthritis is also considered an auto immune thing, so the gluten could have been one of the big factors in the flare ups. Bodies are wild.

also, good thing to know, a food sensitivity can be "cured", not for celiac because that is a separate condition but by removing the food you're sensitive to for a while and then slowly reintegrating it to your diet. the sensitivity can go away forever basically. of course you should do more research on this because im not a doctor but ive been told this by multiple people who work in the medical fields both traditional and "alternative"

pure, distilled whiskey (or whisky), even if made with wheat, barley, or rye is considered gluten-free. Most whiskeys are safe for people with celiac disease because of the distillation process. However, be on the lookout for hidden gluten in whiskeys that add flavorings or other additives after distillation. There is also a risk for gluten cross-contact in facilities that process products containing wheat, barley, or rye.

My daughter has celiac disease, and I have gluten sensitivity. We are a gluten-free household and have been now for over a year. It is pretty easy once you find the right substitutes and learn to make what is not available to buy. As someone who also suffers from autoimmune issues, I just want to mention that the young lady with swollen knees might want to get evaluated for possible lupus. I noticed the malar rash in a prior video, and the swelling can be a symptom too. A gf diet is great for reducing inflammation associated with autoimmune diseases.
