Hi Stuart, really fascinating insight into your swing motion which retains the golf club face swinging and still staying square to the arc but nevertheless allowing the golf club to release whereby the club head does indeed overtake the grip end. But crucially it is not done by twisting / spinning the shaft. Namely it’s not done by flipping and rapidly closing down the club face rapidly through impact. So you begin to delineate the pull phase in the initial phase of the downswing from the breaking followed by the swing phase. So the breaking phase presumably starts around club last parallel (the delivery position). I’m liking the advice to allow the right shoulder to move downwards & out to collect the ball / cover the ball with your chest and trail shoulder which enables the downward strike with a more hands forward & shaft lean. Great content Stuart. Thks Myles

Thanks! This is a refreshing insight. I take it bowing the wrist in the down swing prevents early release. This new way of thinking frees me up.

I really enjoyed this video. The right shoulder explanation in particular I think will really help me. Watching you demonstrate the right shoulder action lengthening the amount of the shoulder going forward coupled with you demonstrating the hand action, specifically using your left hand to demonstrate the pivot point of approximately when the right hand should over take the left hand during the breaking phase, helped me remind me just how important keeping the hands down is throughout the swing. Just installed my home simulator. This will give me something awesome to work on. Appreciate you, Stu.

Every time I watch one of your videos I learn something! This one provides lots of insightful detail on club head release. The nuanced differences between iron and driver feelings through impact are important. Helps me understand why I seem to hit the irons better when I focus on getting the right shoulder moving out toward the target line and around the ball. Looking forward to the Driver video.

After 25 years of wasted lessons, thousands of "YT instructors" Stu is a ray of light to stop the Madness! He is undoubtedly, by light years' far and away the very finest instructor in the universe, bar none. You need to get the concept, otherwise if your wedded to your old swing, you will dismiss it. See his videos a few times and by all means if you can take a lesson if you can. I haven't yet, but I will...

Stu, excellent explanation and demonstration, again. I knew many others would call it a flip when it certainly isn’t. What works for me is visualizing the handle arc and not the club head arc. My one thought is to get my hands to make the handle arc underneath my shoulders so that it passes where it was at setup. This was a powerful video and I sensed your frustration and man did you set them straight. Kudos, brother. Cheers.

Such a good video .. I’ve adapted my pre-shot routine to a more dynamic movement in line with this video as ‘previously’ I was obsessed with arriving from the inside (garbage) and didn’t use enough rotation in the swing .. ‘more swing power’ is the answer and it’s joyous

Flippers have to raise the left shoulder and do an in to out swing with a high hands finish. Your, in to in swing allows the shoulders to swing almost level and finish at shoulder level, less stress on the arms, shoulders and lower back! Keep on filming !

Good stuff. I must admit that it seems to me that applying active breaking via lead-hand pressure against the motion of the swing combined with trail-hand pressure with the swing (which was how I interpreted a recent video of yours) ... well, it's Flip City, isn't it?

@@GoodGolfCoaching It's helpful for sure. I will have to review and assimilate to make best use of it of course. On another vein, I notice that my head position at (iron) setup seems wrong. There is additional spine tilt for the driver, of course. But I seem to need *some* of that for solid iron contact (if not exactly spine tilt, and certainly not as much as with driver, then head a bit to the right compared to where I've been setting up). It seems a world of difference. Am I dreaming? Rotation suddenly seems "on plane", comparatively. You are the best.

I left a comment on one of Stuart's previous videos where I noticed a close similarity to Mike Malaska regarding hand path through the impact phase. The logic is striking and the mental image of where the clubhead goes if the handle is used correctly has helped me a lot. Good advice from experienced and knowledgeable coaches. We are very lucky to live in a time where all this good information from anywhere in the world is so freely available.

Constructive criticism: leave the negative language and arrogant takes just out. It wont change the point of the video and it doesn't rub off anybody in a negative way. It is possible to describe differences in peoples approaches to the golf swing without judging, yours works for you, others works for others. Viewers may want to know where you have issues with different approaches and why, no reasonable person wants to know whether you think it is nonsense or not. fyi: it looks so much like flipping to some people because you show the isolated arm movement but with straight hips, in an actual swing in impact hips will be slightly open and suddenly the movement you describe doesn't look as flippy anymore.
