Thank you for posting representative Lancia, this is great!! Paul Revere has lost his hair in this film probably because of chemotherapy, he is help on and off stage by his son, also using a cane, and his vocal delivery is weaker than I've ever heard. However from what I understand Revere stayed on the road up until 2 months before his death. I find that absolutely amazing. I'm not sure but this may be the last recording of him before his death. He came through near Dallas around this time in 2014 but I was too sick to see him. Your posting will have to do for me. Thank you for posting this, it is out of sight

From 2008 to 2014 I was thwarted so many different ways from getting back to see Paul Revere with his Raiders one more (last) time, it was like I was carrying a gypsy curse -- except that I'M the gypsy, so what gives??? This recording will have to stand in for what I was unable to accomplish myself, and I humbly thank you. Even though you can tell he's struggling, Paul looks so much here like he did in his youth. My oh my, it really seemed to me he'd still be going like gangbusters when he celebrated his 90th birthday in tight pants and tricorn, leading his Raiders through yet another show in yet another town. But, alas ...

My wife and our friends for the 4th of July had friends over for a 3 day rock fest all by using KZbin concerts for the festival. We decided that Paul Revere was the perfect band to close a 4th of July show. My only wariness was that the rock competition was pretty stiff. We had Accept - Sabaton Iron Maiden Powerwolf Motorhead and other rock em dead bands, I wondered how the Raiders would stack up for the festival close. AM HAPPY TO SAY THE RAIDERS ROCKED THE HOUSE DOWN WITH THE BEST OF THEM. A great band that stands the test of time. Paul Reveres comedy is well timed and FUNNY unlike the stale groaner jokes Mitch Ryder likes to tell as older man. I saw Paul in Des moines say to the crowd " I don't think I look too bad for being 65." He then pointed the gun at the bass player asking "You don't think I look too bad for 65 do ya?"

It is tough to keep the same members in a band since the 1960's (about 55 years ago!). There are musicians who played in this band for 30-40 years. Singer replaced after Mark Lindsey went solo and if you saw concert footage of Mark Lindsay, he does not sing as well as his replacement and has far less energy. RIP Paul Revere. Memories are good

Guess that explains why The Raiders didn't make anymore hits after INDIAN RESERVATION which was big on the AM charts during the summer of 1971. That fall Mark came out with his first solo single, ARIZONA. A matter of fact, that may even have been the same title of his solo album. Mark made one more AM 45 single after that which bombed out. I forgot the name of it.
@rolo19555 жыл бұрын
Not sure what your sources are but Mark had a top ten in the winter of 1969 with "Arazona" and had the follow up "Silver Bird" in 1970 which was used on Yamaha commercials. "Indian Reservation" follow in the summer of 1971 out selling any other artists or group in the history of Columbia Records!

I was a big Raiders fan back in the 60's. GOOD THING and HIM OR ME WHAT'S IT GONNA BE were my favorite hits. INDIAN RESERVATION wasn't bad either. They sounded pretty good at this concert. I saw a few other videos on YOU TUBE showing PAUL REVERE, if that's his real name, died last year in 2014 of cancer. Check it out if you didn't know. He was 74.
@goodguy3099 жыл бұрын
Jay Ritch I saw this group for the last time at DisneyWorld. I am disabled so I was on my scooter and the lady next to me knew Paul Revere from his early days. She told me about his cancer but the arm sling wasn't from a shoulder repair, it was from a stroke he suffered a few months prior.
@Jjonathanhart9 жыл бұрын
I didn't see Paul having an arm sling. By the way, was that his real name, PAUL REVERE? I say that because I thought there was only one of a kind back in the revolutionary war. I'll never forget his classic line riding through Boston on his horse, "The British are coming, the British are coming." Also part of the Boston Tea Party era. If Paul had a stroke, it probably didn't help is health coming down with cancer.

I have always thought that given there is no one left but Paul that he should have called the band Paul Revere and the New Raiders.... or something along those lines.
@marthawelch4289 Жыл бұрын
Well, Paul (leader and pianist) was no longer living as of 2014 so there's no need to rename the band. Some of the musicians seen here performed for 30 to 40 years with Paul as Paul Revere and the Raiders. So, they really weren't too new. Mark Lindsay (the original singer) is a solo artist, performing for years now under his own name. There were and still are many bands who started back in the 60's and 70's who had changing line-ups through the years and they kept their original names. Name recognition is vital to keeping old and new fans connected to the band. There's nothing that generates more groans from a concert audience than announcing that something is "new".
@nicke.3782 Жыл бұрын
@@marthawelch4289 Try to read a little deeper. I am quite aware that PR died. I am referring to the time he was leading the band.... like in the video above I was commenting on. I also understand that some of the members had been performing with PR for a lot of years. You completely missed my point. NONE of these people (outside of PR) were in the band when they were making hits or whose voices you heard on the radio. THAT is what I was referring to when I said that PR should differentiate it in some way. A lot of members do change in bands over time, but some are irreplaceable (like Mark Lindsay) and you do a disservice to those who expect to see them. Nostalgia plays a big part of seeing a band that has been around forever. Just having PR in the band is not enough. Mark was the face AND voice of the band. So yes... the NEW Raiders it should be.... which is hardly changing the name of the band. Your last sentence is just plain ridiculous and made-up.

I don't think Paul really liked the idea of Mark leaving the group. Just like he did not like the idea that Phil,Mike,and Drake decided to form their own band called the Brotherhood back in 1968 right about that time the raiders were to be guest entertainers on the Ed Sullivan show if you ever seen that episode you will notice there are six guys in the band and the new guy was Freddy Weller.......Phil, Mike and Drake were leaving as Freddy was coming in. leaving only Mark Lindsay and Paul Revere you do the math.......and nobody told Paul that he was losing three members of his band.........

Paul Revere knocking Obama Care? I really used to like old Paul. WTF?
@merriemisfit84068 жыл бұрын
First, Paul Revere was going through a long ordeal in the strange and convoluted world of medical care. If he didn't like the new system, I suspect he had better reason for not liking it than most people do for liking it. Second, if you decide you don't like somebody anymore just because they have a different opinion about something than you do, then either you didn't like that person very much to start with, or you are showing a rather intolerant side of yourself and a little introspection might be in order.
@howlinwolf738 жыл бұрын
No one every said I didn't like Paul Revere. I still love Paul, his music and his kind, friendly demeanor. And yes he may have had his reasons unbeknownst to his public and me, about Obama Care... But as a musician myself, I would never blurt out an opinion about political issues during a concert that could be misinterpreted by fans. That is without explaining my motives. This way people do not get your message wrong. He has a right to his opinion, as do I. And if it differs from mine, I never said I wouldn't tolerate it. I just think he made a mistake mixing his music and an unclarified political statement. Now I should have chose some better words in my comment about this video but, how can you judge and label me intolerant without knowing the reasoning behind my statement?, I only wanted to understand why Paul made that comment. Which really is quite uncharacteristic of him. I think you should not be so quick to judge my intentions. That is a bit unfair, don't you think?
@merriemisfit84068 жыл бұрын
Artists have been airing their political views on stage going all the way back to the Greek tragedy competitions. There was an incident regarding a presentation of Richard II that put Will Shakespeare and his acting crew in a bit of hot water. Political statement became a necessity in 50s-60s folk rock. Now, from Bruce Springsteen to Ted Nugent, at each point along the political spectrum, every concert presents a chance to proselytize voters. (Besides, Paul Revere always included some wisecracks about current events. He was not the first to zing the new state of medical insurance in the U.S. -- a system, remember, tht is good enough for you and me, but not good enough for the folks who voted it on us.
