Fun story. Saw Night Ranger in 1985-ish in El Paso. After the show, waiting for my friend’s dad to pick us up, we got robbed of all our merch by two guys with scary sticks. We lived in Alamogordo (about 90 mi. N of El Paso) and it turns out that at that time Jack Blades mother lived in Alamogordo also, running a little curio shop downtown. We went into her store and told her what happened. She took our names and addresses, and a few weeks later we both got a haul of lots of autographed posters, LPs, and tour shirts. Nice lady.

I considered Jeff Watson much better than Brad Gillis. He play his solos with clear notes and is the master of tapping. Not like Brad Gillis with his tremoring solos.
@fatbackfunk3 жыл бұрын
@@jafl1971 Well, I don't know about better, seeing as that's obviously subjective and personal preference. I'd say more so, just very different types of players, which I actually think is a really good thing, seeing as those differences are exactly what makes their (Night Ranger) sound so unique and interesting, as far as the guitar playing. In other words, they compliment and balance out each other really well. I guess I would sum up their playing as Jeff being the ultimate virtuosic beast and Brad more of a soulfully expressive, attitude laden player. Either way, I love em' both equally. But like the OP mentioned, I too really miss Jeff being in NR. But the new dude is definitely holding his own!

@@robchell9196 - How did you get involved with Ozzy Osbourne? Why this stint didn’t last long? Ozzy’s record company called me and asked me to go out to the US and help him out to finish a tour since his guitarist, Randy, had been tragically killed. I didn’t want to do it, having just left Ian and having a solo tour starting in a matter of days, and “Turn Out The Lights” about to come out. But they talked me into it. I was first told that Ozzy’s tour would end in a month, then three months, then six months. I didn’t want to stay that long, I was pretty mentally cracked up at the time due to leaving GILLAN, and losing my friends in that band… The GILLAN band members never spoke to me for two years after I left. My marriage was also breaking up, all in all I was in a bad state. I just wanted to calm down and get back to reality and play some music I enjoyed again. I didn’t think that touring stadiums in the US for six months would benefit my mental stability! So I waited until they found a good replacement and came home to London. A lot of people misunderstand that: I love Ozzy, very nice man, but that particular tour didn’t have much to do with music - you couldn’t hear what anyone else was playing on stage. It wasn’t much fun, though I’m very glad to have helped Ozzy and the band out.”

I was into Aerosmith Bon Jovi and Survivor particularly before most people over here had heard of them and my first proper rock gig was the mighty Blue Oyster Cult in 1979. To my eternal shame Nightrider completely passed me by and until earlier this week couldn't name a single song. Then something magical happened - Planet Rock played ,Sister Christian and wow what a song ! I thought it was House of Lords or Ratt or something but now I know who Nightrider are alright. Fantastic power ballad as good as anything Smith BJ or even Journey have done. Just starting to explore the back catalogue Brad Gilli's who I had heard of is a fine guitarist but the band fullstop are great. Keep rockin fellas from the UK 🎸

They played a free concert down on Freemont St in downtown Vegas on my birthday years ago. They were suppose to play for 90 mins. Well, 3 hrs and 45 minutes later they had to pull the plug and kill the power cause the crowd was rocking and these guys weren't giving up. After the first 1 1/2 hrs they left and when they came out to do an encode they would play 3 songs and say "should we stop or you want us to keep playing?"....the crowd went wild and they kept playing. One of my favorite concerts ever. I've seen them like 20 times since '83 and they just keep getting better. You definitely get your money's worth of entertainment value!

Sarah just watched your starship concert from busch gardens and ran right into the night ranger concert these are probably 2 of the first real concerts since the pandemic I have seen both of these bands many times and they both sounded refreshed and glad to be playing live again. Thank you so much!
