I remembered Rhett mentioning the peroxide rinse a few weeks ago. As someone who has battled with regular bad breath - like, we're talking barnyard bad breath - I decided to give it a try. There's been a WORLD of difference!! I don't get slapped in the face with my own breath anymore.

If you don't already, I recommend flossing between teeth and brushing/scrubbing your tongue, specially the part close to your throat.

@@josepep Yup, I do both of those as well. Flossing also makes a huge improvement, plus it's super satisfying.

A real good tip but also remember to go to the dentist to get your teeth professionally cleaned and floss everyday to prevent the bacteria growth!

Sometimes the bad breath can come from the stomach or the sinuses. If it was purely dental then brushing, flossing, and cleaning your tongue would solve the problem. Seeing a gastroenterologist and an ENT may help.

Fennel, licorice and anise all have a similar compound called Anethol. Which is why they all have that specifically similar aromatic profile. I strongly dislike the flavor, but I like fennel the most of the 3.

Guava leaves (not crushed or boiled but on the stalk) are also extremely useful in getting rid of houseflies. The aroma/smell keeps them away.

Hydrogen peroxide and water as mouthwash? Just really remember 3% hydrogen peroxide. There are some really strong ones not good for mouthwash.

I googled it because I was curious and Wikipedia says a 3% solution is used by dentists to locally desinfect. So it actually should be safe to use especially watered down.

it's been 3 years, but never seen this episode: in college I learned that the compound that gives fennel its aroma is a stereoisomer of a familiar mouthwash component--wintergreen. I'm not surprised it does a similar job. Basically, fennel and wintergreen aromatic molecules are mirror images of one another (as in left and right handedness are reversed in the mirror).
