Where you are now is safe, warm, dry and filled with love. The BIG House can wait a while longer, but your children are growing up fast, so don't lose that special time with them. The house will still be there and waiting patiently to be completed. Take care. Play in the snow ☃️ . Enjoy life now.

I like that at the end of the work in the house on that last day, thee way Jeremy dropped whatever was in his hands and said, "not tonight" and you said, "tomorrow?" then he said "I miss the kids". Then you were off to do the most important thing at that point and went to the kids and the animals. Good call! It's really looking great! God keep blessing you!

Personally I think you guys are so blessed to have a daughter that takes it upon herself to help out the way she does. I know she wants to do her own thing and stay off your videos as much as possible and that is understandable to me. The amount of effort she puts into keeping an eye on the younger ones to give you time for the homestead is a great thing and I know you guys appreciate it. She is interested in learning to cook? Embrace it and encourage it. Get her cook books, and instruction videos. Take her shopping where she can pick out what SHE wants to make. Maybe encourage her to do cooking videos on her youtube channel. They can make her some youtube revenue and those videos will instill even more self reliance in her.. and can also encourage others her age to do the same and learn to cook. Huge Kudos to her!

In 1969 it started snowing In Rome, NY. It did not stop till January 3, 1970. In that time it fell 11' of snow. E-l-v-e-n FEET! We were going in and out of the house in the second-story window. That was enough snow for a lifetime for me and my siblings. My mom and dad felt the same way. But we enjoyed it while we could. Happy New Year!

We lived in Newfoundland when I was growing up! The first night we got off the ferry and it had "just" started to snow! I can remember seeing the grass poking up up through as we drove to the base. The next morning...My Dad opened the front door to "go to work" and it had snowed OVER the door! People don't believe me when I tell them people kept their toboggans on the second floor so they could get out!

What a special treat, a visit on a Sunday! i confess i jumped on this immediately. And i discovered that you are having the same issues i was having. No motivation, i was tired, it was cold outside and I had all these little pieces of projects that had piled up. your willingness to push forward instead of take a nap, really helped. Then when you decided to make it a kids snow day, i knew there was a reason i had a visit from you folks. Thank you! Play with the kids, enjoy the snow, take care of your animals. Enjoy the peace you have created.

We had 3 days of 6” of snow. It was hard taking care of the chickens, breaking water every few hours, removing snow from their run, cleaning the coop & keeping them as dry as possible. And then try to have energy to play with the grand babies in the snow. Last night we had a warm rain and the snow is gone. Only 3 days….it seemed much longer to my body but my heart is full of sweet memories. I love you guys. I pray for you & your sweet family, blessings!!!!

That’s great on your decision to work with your horse. Too many people pass on horses to other people and then the horse keeps getting handed off and eventually ends up on the slaughter pipeline because the horse is misunderstood. With patience and help you figured out what your horse needed to start becoming a wonderful addition to your farm. Kudos to you!

I have an intimate knowledge of foster homes, criticism, abuse and family dysfunction. Watching your You-Tube videos is such a blessing and joy as you provide countless examples of irreplaceable wisdom, learning, teaching, consciousness, understanding and respectful, compassionate, loving interaction within your family. And generosity to your outside community as well. At 73 years old, I sit here with tears of regret because I had no idea what might have been possible had I known or experienced what a family can attain together. I cry for joy and deep appreciation for all that you folks share with your audience, as you move toward your dreams and goals together. You are such remarkably beautiful hardworking, respectful , fun and caring family. I hope your children all learn that what they are experiencing and learning individually and as a family, is a rare and sacred blessing. I hope millions of others get to witness, learn, and experience for themselves through examples like yours. Watching you (work, rest, and play) as you go about your lives is a PRICELESS GIFT. I thank you so much!

Niveah is honing her cooking and seasoning skills; it took me to take cooking seriously around 15-16 years old (Latino parents start us off young in the kitchen, but I didn't care for it then), and eventually, honed my seasoning skills... I impress myself on occasion, but I like my cooking. :0) Hopefully, she will teach her sibs as well. It's the little intricate things that slow things down and makes one feel like nothing was accomplished, but in the long run makes a significant difference in what is done to achieve the job ahead. It also made feel happier and closer to them... childhood goes by so fast. Your children 💕 being with you and being close bye to all you do sure is a blessing for them 💫

Your closing statements are what is most important in life, FAMILY. The house is oh so important, but you and your family should always come first. Enjoy the snow and have fun.

Great to see the project moving along. The feeling of not seeing results after completing all the little details is a deep sigh but they matter to push you forward. Before you know it, the place will transform to the next phase. All the ceilings and walls with multiple stages to complete. It's worth it and as you relax looking up as the fire crackles, you will reflect on everything you did together. Stay warm and safe.

Melissa and Jeremy, thank you for taking a break and spending time with the kiddos. That's important as you well know, but you guys just needed to walk away for a little bit too. Your bodies need a break. Your house isn't going anywhere guys. It will wait on you. Bless you guys.

Absolutely with you 100%! The journey includes taking time for yourselves and your kids. I understand though how easy it is to get tunnel vision to get stuff done.

Hi guys! I’ve been a new home builder in Washington for 26 years. You’re doing great! I have a tip for the mud when the snow is on its way out and the mud is everywhere. Wood chips. Hardware stools sell chips in bags. It’s inexpensive and biodegradable. Soaks up water too. Go home school!! My boys turned out great!

I imagine y’all are VERY tired-working in the cold is exhausting! This entire project is to give your family a safe warm home so taking time to be a family is essential. It may not feel like it but you appear to be on track while keeping first things first. Stay warm!

I had to rewatch the tossing lumber moment 1:50 where he tosses the board and the whole board just vanishes into the snow. That just doesn't get old. Magic!

Jeremy, build out that storage area before the sheet rock goes in. Great place to store Christmas lights etc and light stuff. Glad to see it snow there, we are on a snow break here, received 214" of snow for December. Ski resorts are very happy.

There were a lot of times when my kids were growing up I was so focused on making a living I forgot to live. By doing this I missed a lot of time with my kids. They're grown now and on their own. I look back now and yearn for the time I missed that I can never get back. I'm so happy to see y'all making and taking that time with your babies. One thing is for sure, if you don't take it now you'll never get it because babies grow and time moves on. When children become grown they don't remember the things you bought them, they remember the time you spent with them. Don't waste it.

You made a very important statement at the end, the work will always be there to do but your children is most important! I wish sometimes I would have done more with my kids when I could have. My daughters are grown now living their own lives so as a mom I only can tell you enjoy each moment because you never get them back! Your doing amazing things and I appreciate you sharing your journey!

I am so pleased to hear of your decision about the horse; its just all to do with contact; feeding; grooming and then they become part of the family, feel safe, and start to trust you - just like children. You are doing a great job xx As for feeling despondent; it happens to everyone when they get to about the point you are at in a build; Courage mon braves! You will look back on it and it will all be like a dream when you are settled in your cosy home this time next year!

You two are doing an amazing job Melissa, it’s looking more like a home instead of a shell, as the saying goes Rome wasn’t built in a day, it looked like Jeremy was on a treasure hunt looking for the lumber, keep telling yourself that spring will soon be here, and your eldest daughter is amazing too, hope you enjoyed dinner, tfs x Julie 🇬🇧

Hey Jeremy a Tip. Use a stick stuck in the snow with a colored rag nailed to it to mark your wood pile different color ones for each. Oh they do have a kit for your tractor to enclose the drivers compartment and one for a heater. Over all you all are making great headway. But the fun is just starting the drywall they do have a drywall jack that will lift up a sheet of drywall all the way up your ceiling also might look into that. God bless be safe stay warm and healthy. Jim

Your children have learned so much from you in their short lifetime and it's so much more than most ever learn . Stay safe and keep up the great works and videos you all are admired by millions. It's those top plates and floor joist, the kids growing a day older that don't seem like much, but they are vital. It's why they are turning out as good as they are. Y'all take the quality time with them and understand y'all are building their home. They know they are loved in the little things, so they know they are loved in the big things. The little things, most of the time mean more. That snow, ahh man, the view there just never gets old. God bless you all and keep you safe.

Yes. Continue to enjoy the kids as you'll miss them when they are grownups. I had an amazing time raising two daughters and I miss it. I miss the toys. The reading bedtime stories. The Christmas mornings. I miss it all. Hope to one day have grandchildren to do it all over again. U have comforted me on some dark nights. Thank you. And God bless you all.

I love your holding off for a day to spend time with your kids and just live. Wonderful insight at your "end of the day' ponderings. As always, thank you for inviting us into your life. (I've never been in as much snow as you have. Wow. I'm in NC. We have rather moderate weather here. Not much snow anymore.)

Might I say you are spot on the building can wait this is what so many parents miss. Enjoy your children be with them as much as possible. There will come a day when you wont hear the little feet run across the floor the laughing the little giggles the words mommy or daddy or can you help me. These are blessings from God. I have three that have move on starting their own families . Now I call them from time to time just to hear their voice. That time will come for anyone who has children. God bless be safe.
