Real Life Fairy Tale Village in Germany | Spreewald [4K]

It feels like entering a village that exists only in fairy tales, beautiful and green all around with the sounds of bird all the way. This is how a well preserved nature should look like.
This village is located in Spreewald, 1 of only 18 biosphere reserves in Germany. The video was made in June 2020.

If your family lives by the river, there is a risk for your child to accidentally drown in that river. That risk is permanent for 10-15 years if you're having 2-3 kids. Not really. Some places, yes, but not everywhere. We got a lot of monocultures and most of our forests are about as natural as the faces of Hollywood actresses... I've seen many historic houses left to rot, especially timber frame houses hurt my heart, as they are at times 500 years old, and you can see that they had been taken care of until the last few decades...

i live there. it's basicly a poor mans living area historicly. prussian monarchs banned slavic tribes into that area to cultivate it. no potato would grow there so it wasnt seen as good ground to live on. and still today working conditions around the spreewald are one of the poorest and lowest payed. atm this area is surrounded by coalmining and cultivated coal mines were they take the spree's (rivers) water to fill the holes and create a connected lake system. this leaves the river pretty dried up. looks good for tourists but is actually endagered by politics and nothing like a fairytale at all.

It is an interesting experience that many people see my homeland as a place of peace. Less than a generation ago Germany was totally destroyed with millions of fallen soldiers and hundreds of thousands of civilians killed by the Allied air war. My hometown alone was bombed 272 times. And today my country is felt as one of the most peaceful countrys on the planet. Perhaps there is a connection between the two extremes. In any case, it was an incredible achievement by the Germans to rebuild the country after the total destruction by World War II.
