Hi Julian, I love the way this area is developing. It looks overgrown over against the rather grand curved walls. Maybe a hole in the fence with some children trespassing?? Those tufts are an easy win. Thanks as always, cheers.

Hi Jules, fantastic like scene developing there! Those Tajima bushes are fantastic looking things so they have gone on my ‘list of things that look bloody good’ for future reference 😅 They complement your home made efforts rather well I think as they are an entirely different texture. I actually liked what you did with the bit draped on the fence and was going to suggest you maybe drag a few strands through the cattle dock fence too. I know you said about cutting the fence and damaging the posts a bit, but how about trying to cut out a few knackered planks and have a shrub growing through it? Some one is bound to have nicked a few bits of wood too, lol! 😅 As for the fly tipping, I’d make it a load of stuff that has been lobbed by the yard workers over the fence 🤷🏻♂️ Plus you really ought to have an abandoned tin bath and/or butler sink. Funny because you saw loads in derelict land in the 1970s, but if you have a genuine old one intact then it’s worth a ruddy fortune 🤦♂️ 🛀 Cheers mate, great fun as ever 😎🍀🍻👍

Thanks Tim and excellent tips for the cattle dock and fly tipping. I wonder if anyone has produced a 3D printed tin bathtub?
@timsully8958 Жыл бұрын
@@StationRoadModelRailway: that’s a point! I know there are some nutters out there who produce just about anything out of resin with a 3-D printer, so that might be the solution. I know Langley did a metal kit once upon a time, but I saw a great stand at a model railway exhibition in Stamford in May with loads of 3D printed household stuff. Might have been for Model Railway Scenics cos they do a lot of stuff like that too 🤔

Hi Julian, great video and tutorial on how you made your brambles. The whole area looks really good.

Hi Julian. Super look to those areas now. However, perfect for children to play in (cowboys & Indians, war games, etc), not to mention blackberry picking when in season. Maybe a kids fort within the bushes? Best wishes.

Excellent tips and yes, there will be some figures placed in the area in the future (looking very uninhabited at the moment). I had the thought of cutting away a small section of the wire mesh fence and some youths sneaking in or out of the goods yard.

Great finish Julian. A combination of home made and purchased products helps to keep the overgrown area as random as you would expect in nature. Thanks for the Tips on the bushes from overseas. I watched a video recently only to find that the recommended similar bushes were not shipped internationally. Happy Modelling. Mon

I'd definitely give the Tajima1 products a go and they ship worldwide.

That area looks really good now and the pre-made materials have been duly noted for my own endeavours. One possible suggestion - I wonder if a single (large) tree adjacent to the cattle dock might be in order? Not only would this be a ‘feature’ element, but might have been left to mature there to provide some shade over the cattle dock in Summer, for animals and people alike. Look forward to the next video.
@StationRoadModelRailway Жыл бұрын
Thanks Steve. I did look at a larger tree placement in various areas including next to the cattle dock, and it just didn't seem right and looked out of place.

I like your bushes Julian, I have some insulation material (made of old plastic milk bottles, but simular to what you have used) so i will give your bush method ago. I noticed no washes on the boulders a bit uniformed grey! they also need a bit of static grass growing in the groves.

I've yet finish off the rock formations, as these will be all done at the same time with the formations on the other side of the road up on the hill.

@@StationRoadModelRailway My pleasure, Julian. I use the grass terrain mats (under landscaping materials). You can break these up and use them however you like, patchs, tufts, scrub land etc etc. He has some great youtube clips giving advice on how he uses the stuff. Am really looking forward to how you progress.

Another magic job Kiwi. I see what you mean about the bollards! Anyone who wants to fight that many blackberries is free to take what they like! I have used Tajima1 stuff as well, with I thought, nice results, using 'sere winter grass' or some such description as dead grass in the tracks and beside the line in a disused siding. How's the weather in Ch-Ch? Keep up the good work. Cheers.

Thanks Christopher. The weather has been quite average here, not a lot of sunshine.

You could also use wire wool for the bushes. I don’t know how the cost compares.
@StationRoadModelRailway Жыл бұрын
I have seen folk use wirewool as a base scenic material, possibly less pleasant to work with though.

Hi Mate, your videos are inspiring and I look forward to them in anticipation. However, as a newby to building scatch built cardstock models and having problems with inkjets prints bleeding can you avise on recommended glues, sealants you use in developing your scratch built cardstock models; maybe a video on this and other related topics
@StationRoadModelRailway Жыл бұрын
I use a colour laser printer so I don't encounter issues with colour/print bleed. However, I do spray all prints with matt varnish straight out of the printer before working with them, this gives the prints some added durability.

There'd be very little point in maintaining these areas. In 10-20 years time this lot will be bulldozed and a shopping mall or carpark will be here🙂
