The key is making them feel supported. The way she has her paws looped over Scar's hand shows she feels comfortable in that hold, even if being upright is a more unusual position. She's not trying to claw in for a secure grip.

In my personal experience as a cat owner, it depends on the cat and your bond with them, aka how much they trust you. Conditioning as well partially. My cat Topaz is bonded to me, he is normally very chill when I pick him up and will let me hold him for a while because he knows I'll let him go when he wants unless it's important. On the other hand my other cat, Cosmo, hates being picked up whatsoever and will immediately begin to struggle.

I used to have an outdoor cat named was Simon. He was blindingly bright white, gigantic, and the absolute best. He was also the “king” or alpha, there were quite a few other cats around the neighborhood out there but he was in charge. It was kind of poetic really, because the only other cat he didn’t like (other than our indoor cat🙄) was an extremely fluffy, all black cat who only came around our house in the afternoon and at night. But eventually, he and his smaller brother both died. Simon to the road that he ruled, his brother was found mauled by a neighbors large mastiff type dog. I miss them both quite often.

Yeah, they’re not the first or last though. When I was younger, my family brought two cats in, Owen (the youngest of four) and Ashley(the second oldest). Ashley went a little wacko at one point and attacked Owen and then she ran away. Owen lived to be an old cat and died the year we moved. That was the only time I ever saw my dad almost cry. After them, we had the Simon brothers, and at some point we rescued this adorable little kitten and named it Lucy… and then found out that it was actually a Luther. And when Lucy became Luther, he changed into the grumpiest butthead you’ve ever seen. Also, (did I mention that there are a lot of cats out and about in my town?) a neighbor had a bunch of kittens born in their garage while they were getting ready to move so we took care of them. Only one survived though, and we gave her (Oreo) to my sister and brother-in-law. When Simon the Great died, all we had left was Luther. And he decided that his human servants were no longer necessary and ran away the day before it rained nonstop for a week. After that there was a young white cat outside that we named Hairpiece as a joke. It took a while to get her to trust us but eventually she was a regular at our house. And then she had kittens and one of them looked identical to her and we brought it inside. She had the same exact demeanor as Simon so we didn’t want anything to happen to her. We ended up giving her to a friend and Hairpiece eventually drifted elsewhere and forgot about us, but not before having another kitten who still lives with us today. We’ve had her for two years and we still haven’t given her a name. But she is descended from Hairpiece, who we believe to be one of Simons. So we aren’t letting her go. This all happened in six years and I never realized it would be this much information to type so If you made it this far, thank you for reading. You deserve a surprise. A year ago I found out that I’m allergic to cats! (But I don’t care.😊)

Wild adventure, indeed. I've never had any pets so I don't have any stories to share. Except there was one particular stray in my neighborhood which I really cared about and my old neighbour took in, but they abandoned him when they moved. He's gone now and I never knew if someone else picked him up or if he's gone gone.

Cats are life man. I lost my Sunny this June and I couldn’t stand being alone after loosing my heart Animal of 17 years…. so somehow I was blessed with a 1 year of Calico who I named Lynet. She helps with my heart still being broken I’m just glad I can love another animal unconditionally like they do us.
