@@JBHUTT09 Here's a tip: buy the item box from the store and put all your trash bags in it. Then send it away with the drone. For some reason full trash bags sell for a decent amount.

You can technically open the boxes with anything if you hit them enough, however the best item until you get the crowbar is a hammer that should be on the red desk in your garage. Also the reason why your power is out is because you need to cycle the generators. Follow the power lines from the generator hub you saw with the 3 lights. The red light means one of them went down and needs to be restarted.

This game clearly needs a better tutorial if people, despite the tutorial telling them what to do, still don't know what to do. I feel like it's the problem with the whole "info dump" situation, the game has a lot of complicated mechanics and it tries to explain everything to you while in the tutorial world, and by the time you get to play the actual game you forget a lot of stuff. It would be fun having little pop-up tips show up in the main game when certain things happen for the first time, like how when the power goes out it sends you a message "your power went out, search for a transformer to recycle it and bring back your power" or someting like that. Though it would be hard at this stage of the game to rewrite the entire concept of the tutorial basically from scratch
