The secret area is pretty cool, since you're able to get Eevee, Ralts, Farfetch'd, Ditto, and Lickitung. Also, fusing two Eevee's together is a unique sprite and looks pretty cool. And, it looks like one of the benefits for fusing two of the same Pokemon together is that they get boosted experience. At least, my double Eevee was. Can't wait to see what else Grant and Kirran find, I hope they do this all the way through.

Petition for Revives to be allowed specifically for Pyukubuffet / Wobbamuku. The pokemon built around taking damage should be allowed to die without dying, and this system is more fun than arbitrary Nuzlocke rules.

After you beat Erika you can acces the secret forest (its a hidden entrance like the part you found, but on route 16) and can get a neat pokemon there. You get a sound when you enter the secret forests second area, a russtle or a special tune, one of the two. You will need to exit/enter the area multiple times, took me a minute of 8, to get the special tune.

It's a shame that while the concept is great, it wouldn't work with an original IP. After all, Jade Cocoon was a thing and it didn't take off. It had very similar fusion mechanics, but you could fuse any monster with any other monster. Even fused ones. It probably didn't help it was on the OG PlayStation with CG instead of sprite graphics.
