EDIT: for some reason when uploading it cut the last 40 sec. ugghhh!! What I would do differently is, I would totally seal the wood before encapsulating it in epoxy in the mold.

I’ve used these molds but always had the “lip” side down. Like the top totally smooth. Have made walnut and spalted maple coasters but dying to try a burl - great job. The Peel Coat is one I’ll have to try if available here in Canada. Love your videos,keep up the good work.

AMAZING. Thank you for sharing. I did mine without molds. Feel Free to check them out. But I took some pine wood (1x6) about 36" long, cut center out with a router bit (not all the way through), sanded down, filled the cut out with some UpStart Epoxy Deep pour and sanded some more. Cut down to size 5, 4" squares. Turned out great.

Yes and I would glue it down with a small amount of epoxy first.

So I was really eager & excited after watching this video, lol, and made my first wood resin coasters using a flat round silicone cake mold that has 6 circles and I had round wood slices that I broke up. The problem that occurred is on the bottom of each one, the wood did not get completely covered w/ resin. Ugh! What should I do to fix these? In the future, should I pour a little resin on the bottom or paint in on the wood first? should I do both of those things?
@GoodViewWoodworks3 жыл бұрын
Both of those things will certainly help!
@realkosherpork92233 жыл бұрын
Sealing the wood first will prevent air bubbles from leaking out and into resin.

How long to you wait before you comeback to create swirling affect on both the thin pours and 2 inch thick pours?

I wait until the consistency is like thick honey. Times differ based on temperature and thickness

I’ve wondered about that when I’ve watched others make coasters. Why do you think it would be better?
@GoodViewWoodworks Жыл бұрын
It would’ve gotten rid of any bubbling and kept the wood from moving after the epoxy cured.
