I’m 75 and my mom and her sisters and I used to make quilts by hand. We’d suspend quilt from family room ceiling and roll up when not quilting. The double wedding ring quilt you found reminds me of the one mom and I made when I married. I also have a round tablecloth I made yrs ago. Seeing all the quilts brings up good memories.💕💕💕

I wrote a previous comment but was just thinking about you guys and have to say it's incredible that you walk into a huge store of bins of (*let's be real..lots of stuff nobody wants) and you find treasures! I don't think I'd have the patience or I'd be overwhelmed by it all and probably leave empty handed & frustrated! You make it look fun and easy! I know it can't be easy..but you make it look that way! You have taught so much about painting and flipping but just watching you thrift makes more of us want to go do it and save it from landfills! You ROCK! And you deserve to be praised I think, for introducing people to this concept. Sorry so long.. I am impressed every time you come out with great finds and give them new life! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

I’m always shocked to be honest. Everytime I go I think maybe this is the time I don’t find anything. Because the bins. Especially our bins are a hot mess. And honestly we never really stay long. But every time we walk out with stuff that is worth a ton of money. I was really surprised to find a vintage D&B bag in good shape. But then Zeb found that $500 hiking back pack. Like that’s crazy right? So now I’m hooked and I’m gonna be there at least every other week.

If you find beautiful quilts that are slightly damaged or not perfect enough to sell as you know a quilt, they are still a great idea to keep in store for craft pillows, clothing. There are a lot of people that so that are into using quilts for garments and home decor and using a damaged quilt is kind of considered awesome because we’re saving something beautiful and old and handmade. I’m not sure how you would incorporate that into your store but it would be awesome if you could save those things because the college kids sure won’t. I was also wondering if you go curb shopping when terms let out at the local universities ?
@daninsteve11 ай бұрын
I believe they are called “cutting quilts” when they are damaged, but can still be used for repurposing.

Great video i love to see a mixture of what you guys do and your beautiful home & store. Good to see the pups too. I like the look of the milk paint but have you thought about spray painting the base color to get in all the hard to reach spots and then go over with your paint for the texture effect, just thinking it may save you time with the sane look ❤

I am a retired hotelier. Oxy clean is great, also great are hydrogen peroxide- will not hurt your clothes but it works well for blood, dawn dish soap for ring around the collars and cuffs on white shirts. You can even add a tablespoon or so to the washing tub, it’s a great degreaser. It works well for makeup stains too. Also denture cleaning tablets, just add straight to the washing tub. Spray starch will repel dirt and grime on your whites, just spray it on once dry, you don’t have to iron; including down the front of your shirts. In the hotel industry we use these same items but by other names to keep our white sheets and towels white. I use a cocktail of all of this for my and my husband’s white shirts. They stay sparkling. Beware once an article has gone through the tumble dryer any stains will be set and can’t be removed. If stains are still present, reapply and rewash. Hanging outside is always a great idea.

I don’t mean to be a downer on your quilts but at least one of them had a tag and was mostly likely imported from China. As a long arm quilter I do believe you should be careful of the claims on these quilts as a way of respecting our small businesses.

The store we shop at the most is Deseret industries and the people they help don’t need home decor, they need food and shelter. So the more they sell the more they can help. And I don’t know if you noticed but our stores are overflowing. There is still plenty of clothing and home goods for people that need a discount. Our stores get so many donations they often send some away because they have too much.
