You learned in school that plants get their energy through photosynthesis and sunlight. What they don’t tell you is that plants aren’t made of energy, they’re made of carbon, like all other known lifeforms. Unfortunately, this isn’t Star Trek, you can’t simply convert energy to matter. Plants get nutrients from the soil they’re planted in. Topsoil or black soil is made from decomposing plants or animals. That decomposition happens with the help of bacteria in the soil. Fun fact: There were two different versions of Jay Jay the Jet Plane. The regular one that aired on PBS Kids, and the Christian-based one that they sold on VHS at my local Family Christian Store. My parents played them on loop for me with my Veggie Tales VHS tapes, it was only until very recently that I learned there was a non-Christian version of this show.
