Fantastic video, especially when onboard. Hancock (N. 10) could probably overtake Stretton (N. 8) sooner but we can see he is extremely cautious. Great drive.

I just love these '50's open roadsters. They were designed using a French curve rather than a straight edge. Not a straight line to be found!

What do the 3 letters in brackets after the Driver's name mean?
@athhar36436 жыл бұрын
Drivers are assigned a "House" to represent over the course of the weekend, and guests who attend are each assigned a House as well. Each driver scores points for his/her house based on his/her on-track performance. It gives the guests a reason to support different drivers, as they cheer on their Housemates. If you're familiar with the Harry Potter series, it's similar to the 'House Cup' competition at the Hogwarts school. The four Goodwood Houses are Aubigny, Darnley, Methuen, and Torbolton.

@@athhar3643 Thank you for an informative answer. Can you elaborate on the significance of those names, Aubigny, Darnley, Methuen, Torbolton?
@athhar36435 жыл бұрын
@@paulstandeven8572 The names are in reference to Charles Gordon-Lennox, the 11th Duke of Richmond. He is the estate owner of Goodwood and founder of current Goodwood motor racing events. Aubigny - Descending through French and English parental lineage, the Duke of Richmond also is the Duke of Aubigny in France. Darnley, Methuen, and Torbolton - The Duke of Richmond also has held the titles of the Scottish "Earl of Darnley" and "Baron Methuen of Torbolton".

Can't help but wonder how the hideous but potent -- and contemporaneous -- Ol' Yaller Buick would have done here had it not been dismantled by Max & Ina about 67 years ago to (at least in part) provide some of the relevant hardware in Dave MacDonald's bright orange, Simpson Special. ... Also wondering if fans at Goodwood etc. saw many of the big bore Ferrari's or Maserati's that were running well in the US at the time these cars were The Big Thing in the UK.

Yes, some Ferraris and Maseratis race at the Revival... In terms of 1950s sportscars, there's an ex-NART Ferrari 246S Dino that's very successful at the Sussex Trophy. An ex-Stirling Moss (and I believe ex-Carroll Shelby) Maserati 450S also races from time to time (owned by a massive Maserati collector in Germany)... And very recently, a Ferrari 750 Monza that was raced very successfully in period by Phil Hill, Carroll Shelby and Jim Hall was raced by its owner, who also raced it at Monaco and Le Mans...
