All it takes is a longer straightaway
@jncg23112 ай бұрын
@@DontCryAboutIt Nothing gets away from the mass difference though and circuit racing in the UK generally doesn't have long straights. Unlike NASCAR, British saloon car racing was almost exclusively on courses like Goodwood that started as the perimeter roads on airfields with chicanes and infield sections included to vary the track layout. Much of the European racing was on road courses that took in twisty sections so mass and handling were important for all classes. That the big cars, particularly so the Galaxie does so well at Goodwood is testament to the work done on a very few specifically for British saloon car racing by Holmann and Moody.
@chrisbutenko897429 күн бұрын
@@1240enzo l agree. I think the Alfa's a better car for this course. Really impressive. It almost looked effortless. On the other hand, the Cuda driver was really driving hard, slipping sideways around every corner; pushing it to the edge. Very impressive driving, l thought. But Roman in the Galaxy probably had the fastest run. Starting behind and finishing up with a bumper length off 2nd place. The power of the Ford on the straight was amazing. A great race in so many ways.
@chrisbutenko897429 күн бұрын
@@DontCryAboutIt Yes, it isn't about which type of car is better. It depends on the course. It's great fun to watch the big American cars compete against the Europeans. To see the V8s rocket up the straight and the smaller cars zip through the twists.
