Ever since I got mine from you last fall it’s been my new favorite attachment. It just mulches everything up so well! Works great on trails through the woods. And fence lines along the corn and soybean fields. Great vid!

I had this same mulcher on this same tractor, literally hated this cutter. Bent the right lift arm twice and only used it twice. Entirely too much weight on one side and really didn't offer enough offset of a cut to justify the cost. Replaced it with a 7ft sickle bar cutter and other than mulching bigger stuff which I don't do is way cheaper, way lighter and goes out much further than the mulcher and can run it on a smaller tractor without tearing the tractor up. Some I am sure will like this but I was not one of them, lost $5k on the sale of it with just around 2 hours on it. Kept it a year and just would not use it anymore.

I bought my flail mower last year. Best move I've made yet. Use the stop on the PTO down handle to fine tune the cut level after cutting a trail.

Years ago I had a woods ditchbank mower it was 5' and was offset on a 100hp Deere it's was heavy but I used it the same way. Farmers paid me to travel around their farm fields and trim trees back. Worked very good

While the hammer style blade is more aggressive for processing debris, the split knives allow for the additional straight knife to be added between the split knives. The straight knife will scarify the ground very nicely for over seeding. Not everyone has the need to over seed, but the split blade will process debris as well, maybe not quite with efficiency of the hammer styled blade. I like the vertical feature of this mower. That is something my 88" MC won't do. Great Vidya.

Man thats on my bucket list. I just got all my front and rear 3rd function from Summit installed on my L3901, but couldnt find a summit kit solution for my M4 (like what you have here)…. Once that problem is solved this offset tilt and rotate flail is first or second on the list (competing with a grapple)….. nice vid sir!! Im working 90 acres here in NC and need this!!!

That is a sweet mower. I love the hydraulic flail mower on my excavator. It mows far better than anything else I've ever seen. There are a lot of moving parts, though, in a flail mower. A brush hog has 2 blades and a flail could have over 30.

You shold explore putting a front three point hitch and pto kit on one of your tractors, a set up like this on the front whould be killer. Its common in Europe but not very many here. I think zuidberg north america sells kits for various tractors.

With extremely soggy ground, I will use our flail mower but instead of driving parallel to the edge of the pond or creek, I will back in like you must with a bush hog. 98% of the time though I just drive along the edge with full offset. One thing that took me a while to feel confident with, is having the flail fully offset and also down will pretty much make it impossible for my tractor to tip over. If the tractor tries to tip the flail pushes into the ground and stops it. Of course the mower needs to be down for this "feature" to work. Our 48" hydraulic offset/tilt flail mower is one of my favorite attachments for our 1025R. Edit: I noticed your mower developed a "tick" halfway through the video. Did you find out what caused it? With mine that sometimes happens if a largish branch (say up to ~3" diameter) gets stuck in there and keeps getting whacked by a flail hammer. So far after over 200 hours of hard use, the only thing I notice as far as wear is concerned (other than the hammers have a couple of very minor chips) is the bushings in the offset mechanism now have a bit of slop. Where I noticed this the most is it now droops down at the tip by a couple of inches when i raise it. Still works flawlessly though.

Courtney please compare this to a Lane Shark or front mounted/tilt brush hog, curious which is better for fringe/trail clearing. And very surprised your Kubota didn't tear up grass more considering how much snow Michigan got this winter.

I have a LaneShark 3. You have to manually set the tilt and offset, but as for vertical cutting you can get higher than that flail, although your swaths will be smaller(you would need to make multiple passes, or just creep along and trim from ground to highest reach of your FEL). Being front mounted it is easier to "aim" your cut over any rearmounted implement. The downside is the cut is more like loppers so if you are cutting long stuff you have to come back and either drag it off or mulch it up. I really like it as using a pole trimmer gets the arms tired pdq.

Can a 25 HP tractor handle flail mower with hammer blades? My property has a lot of puckerbrush, alders, small gray birch, etc. Being glacial territory in Maine we also have lots of rocks so concerned with jams with rocks or stumps.

I had one of these but it was too much for my tractor and it also did not cut the grass as evenly as a regular flail or a finish mower. It was hard to get it level. It was interesting and it did cut my dam pretty well but it was not far enough really even with one size bigger.

I really do like that mower but would rather have one that's 8'. I'm in the market for a new mower mostly looking at a brush hog but I like how this flail works. 7-8' medium to heavy duty mowers are not cheap at all unfortunately.
