I run a Newton ST EN Premium on the front and in the dry its decent but its useless in the wet. The compound is far too hard and has no stickiness to it so any wet rocks or roots its like hitting ice. I'm going back to Maxxis. There compounds are just so much better and inspire lots of confidence on the bike.

Ride Rate Review my wife and I just purchased our first house so we have been crazy busy with the move and also with all the new house chores that we haven’t had to do before. Having a front and backyard has been great for our dogs so that was a huge bonus!

Shot Wayne, I was wondering about those tyres, so this is handy! Just one thing - you mentioned riding in Europe as part of the review... I found my brand new set of tyres wore down to almost-finished after two weeks in the Alps (and they were not these, another brand's DH offerings). Perhaps a big part of the wear is due to average steepness (braking forces, etc being applied) and the sheer quantity of riding one does on those trips. So perhaps the Europe trip conditions are not entirely fair on any set of tyres wrt longevity? And man, those Lesotho trails... still hoping to get to Kingdom this year!
@antiherobc4 жыл бұрын
Ja, in a way yes. I got a Maxxis mid trip and I'm still riding it. very minimal wear so far.

Nice review Wayne, for some reason I don't see Goodyear or Michelin as much here as I do Maxxis, Schwalbe and Kenda.
@antiherobc4 жыл бұрын
Yeah, it's the same here. Maxxis & Schwalbe are also the most common tires this side, Maxxis is a bit cheaper than Schwalbe so those are on most bikes.

Mate, I live in Scotland and usually muddy conditions. I have minion DHF and DHR. What tyre (durable) do you recommend me? I was recommended below ones but open to every opinion: 1) Maxxis Aggressor 2) Michelin wild Enduro 3) Schwabe Magic Marry 4) Michelin DH34 5) WTB Verdict 6) Continental Kryptotal or Der Kaiser

I assume you did not ride more than usual in those 3 weeks, to wear the tyre down that much, but that looks bad, does not look like that tyre is for me then. ca how many km did you do on it ?

I ride around 5 days per week ranging from 20 - 40km per ride.
