I had a Nest Gen 2 break and they made me put a hold on my account for the amount of the new one, send the broken one to them, then they'd take the hold off when they received the defective unit. After the Stadia announcement, I was emotionally preparing myself for all my Google Home tech to become expensive paper weights. Just a correction on wifi 6e, it uses all 3 bands. 2.4, 5, and 6ghz, not just 6. This gives devices faster speed because it limits interference but it can also provide a little bit more top end speed closer to the router

My biggest problem with google, is that here in the UK, BT on their fibre products give you a smart hub. 2.4ghz and 5ghz channels are selected by the router. You are unable to decide yourself which channel you want a device on. So some of our Google devices were on 2.4 and some on 5ghz. Google devices hate this and for a few months it was giving a problem every time you asked any device anything. Always got “sorry there was a problem. Swapped them out for Amazon Echos and have had no such problems.

Routines are great. The Home/Away Assist function in the Google Nest App, the Presence Sensing function and the Homs/Away Automations in the Google Home App failed miserably to automatically switch in and out of ECO mode. I found no solutions in those functions. I did find a solution in the Automations of the Google Home app. First I turned off all the Home/Away Functions in the Nest app, all the Presence Sensing functions and Home/Away routines in the Home app. Then in Automations in the Home App, I set up two new routines. These routines use precise location info just like a naviagtion app would and were set up to mimic what the Home/Away and Presense Sensing functions are supposed to do. My Arrive Home routine is set at 150 meters from home to change my thermostat to Heat - Cool mode. My Leave Home routine is set at 500 meters from home to change my thermostat to ECO mode. I tested and it worked exactly like I have wanted Home/Away to work all along.
