My name is Mac Frederick and this video is a presentation I gave to professors and educators who are part of the AEJMC -- Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication.
Roughly 30 local professors joined to hear me speak about the current state of Google and Artificial Intelligence.
I spoke about the history of Google and AI. Then delving into the current digital landscape of Google AI, as well as the future of AI with Google's technology. Other topics I covered involved AI for SEO, AI for Google Ads, and AI for Local Search. The thesis here involved how Google is incorporating AI into all their products and services.

The Evolution of Google and Its AI Technology
Google, established in 1998 by Larry Page and Sergey Brin, revolutionized the internet with its innovative search algorithm. Over the years, Google has expanded beyond search to become a technology powerhouse, particularly in the realm of Artificial Intelligence (AI).
History and Growth
Initially, Google’s AI focus was on improving search algorithms, but its ambition soon extended to various AI applications. In 2011, Google acquired DeepMind, marking a significant step in AI advancements. DeepMind's innovations in machine learning led to breakthroughs like AlphaGo, which defeated the world champion in the complex game of Go in 2016. This acquisition positioned Google at the forefront of AI research and development.
Current AI Technology
Google's current AI technology includes advancements in natural language processing (NLP), machine learning, and computer vision. Tools like Google Assistant leverage NLP to understand and respond to user queries in natural language. Google Cloud AI offers a suite of services for businesses, including AutoML, which allows users to build custom machine learning models without extensive expertise. Additionally, TensorFlow, Google’s open-source machine learning framework, supports a wide range of AI applications and research.
Future Growth Strategies
Google’s future AI strategies focus on enhancing AI capabilities across various sectors. The company aims to integrate AI deeply into its products and services, drive innovations in quantum computing, and ensure AI development aligns with ethical standards. Seriously, though, consumer search behavior is radically changing course and it looks as though the google of today is an old road few will tread down.
