Thanks for your work on this topic. It’s very very early days yet, and your approach is measured, enlightening and responsible. Your questions on this video and the previous one are models for exploring the birth of entirely new access tools to explore the vast amount of textual knowledge available, (though in reality, my brain thinks “as if it could!”). We will slowly learn the best ways to make AI access serve us, but it’s a process, not easily mastered or understood. Quite exciting, really. Thanks you for these introductory videos!

Taking your previous video questions into consideration, I wrote a prompt to ChatGPT (I’m a paid member) asking it to take on a role for me and give me five questions I could ask my cardiologist at out next meeting. In the prompt, I included recent testing that has been done, detail about my symptoms and so forth. The questions it generated were spot on, comprehensive and useful. Thumbs up for your excellent modeling!

You should compare Bard to Bing, which is integrated with GPT-4. It is up to date, and also shows sources just like Bard.

I find Bing is more comprehensive with responses, and Bard is faster and more user friendly.

Google characterizes Bard as "geared towards facilitating research" but I was less than impressed. I asked basic medical/physiology questions, such as "Compare and contrast Babinsky Reflex and Hoffman's Reflex and provide the significance of a positive result for each". Both ChatGPT and Bard flubbed the answers providing a mixture of equal parts correct and incorrect information. C-GPT pointed to the wrong neuronal structures but sounded convincing otherwise. "a positive reflex always points to injury of the spinal cord tracts". I pushed C-GPT, "babies have a positive reflex up to age 9-12 mos, right?' "Yes, it's important to note a positive result is not conclusive of injury". Ah, what? You just said...ok, nevermind. ChatGPT did a marginally better job. Bard not only provided basically incorrect answers, but actually contradicted itself in the same reply, e.g. "...is a test of upper motor neuron function" followed by "...is a test of lower neuron function, not upper." Hedging. That's great in politics, not so much so in research. Caveat? First, I'm glad these two AIs aren't doctoral students. They'd both fail their coursework. Second, I'll not be out of a job any time soon. Amazing in so many other ways. Debating philosophical stances was brilliant and had me laughing as C-GPT admitted it's argument on forms wasn't very strong but that it remained convinced it was more compelling than mine. Love it!

I've been testing them on a different capability: understanding. I create little stories and then ask questions to see how well they understand things like thought processes and motivation (theory of mind). I also test Bing separately, since it's a kind of ChatGPT spinoff (Bing has current information, too). Both programs do quite well answering questions about short narratives, although oddly Bing makes some mistakes that neither vanilla ChatGPT not Bard make.

Of the two, I think that ChatGPT is the more "human" of the AI's. Whereas Bard is the clinical "colder" one. If that makes sense?

One problem with gpt is it tends to fabricate answers instead of saying it doesn't know, which sort of makes all its answers unreliable

Bing GPT4 will generate summaries of text input. The same task given to Bard returns the message ""I can't assist you with that, as I'm only a language model and don't have the capacity to understand and respond." - very disappointing to hear from Bard. The GPT response was flawless and practically instantaneous.

Unfortunately, a growing number of people were reporting that the shortcut wasn't working, and I was beginning to have issues with it myself. As it's not my shortcut (and I therefore can't 'fix' it), I took the video down, rather than showing people how to do something that most likely wouldn't work.

On a side note: when updating to ios 16.4, when i have imessage open and i say "hey siri, remind me about this" before it would create a reminder linked to that message; but now when i do "hey srir remind me about this" having imessage open it then asks me "what do ybou want to be reminded about?" like it's not linking? anyone else having that issue?

Maybe Apple is taking a wait and see how many lawsuits are spawned…things are still rather “ beta” and a lot of tech people I’ve known, tend to let other find out the hard way regarding roll outs, before they jump in…

It could be that. Apple are very definitely a 'super-tanker' in terms of how quickly they can change direction/course, compared to the 'out of control speedboat' approach that most AI businesses seem to be taking at the moment. It's understandable for them to be cautious, although if they aren't careful, they're going to find that tools like Siri get totally left behind.

Siri, Alexa, and Google assistants have a lot of access to personal and private information of a user, along with userids and passwords. We don’t know that these chat bots will keep your stuff private. Maybe if it operates only on your device and doesn’t share anything.

I think it's more that Google don't 'officially' support it. I believe they plan on adding it, so it would make sense that it gets added bit by bit over time.

In the interest of fairness you wouldn’t ask Bard to code because you know it can’t, but you still asked ChatGPT up-to-date questions even though you know ChatGPT wouldn’t know the answer. Doesn’t seem like fairness to me.
