This video is SO helpful! I was trying to figure out the best way to plan my days, incorporating recurring routines with their checklists, as well as "plugging in" my one-time to-dos into time slots based on where they make sense (eg, themed days, plus my morning time is my best "deep focus" time and my afternoons are better for simpler/admin type tasks). I think that for me, spending some time each day in the calendar view in Everything will be so helpful! Thank you!

Ahh 4-day view! I completely forgot about that! Also, I thought the purple was just me because it's my ClickUp Theme color (haha!) Loving the idea for the Themes that are coordinated with the views and in favorites. Dragging and dropping is a fantastic tip for putting tasks into those "containers".

I'm not gonna lie, when I saw the purple I was ready to give up on this feature! 😂 My normal calendar is set to a near-white color (#f4f4f4) and when I saw these pull in bright purple I was DESPERATE for a workaround. Ha! Baby blue isn't much of an upgrade, but at least the tasks have a nice calm color! Ha!

Thanks for this great video on time chunking and on Google calendar with ClickUp. I noticed you talked about your ‘Focus’ list. Doy ou have a video on how you set that up. Prioritizing over multiple ‘areas’ of responsibility, work, home, etc, is one of the things I struggle most with in ClickUp. I have lists set up for different areas like you do and within on those are tasks/projects of different priorities. Having a ‘Focus’ list looks like an possible solution. If it works for you it probably works for us. Thank you for all your work.

Next to your spaces on your sidebar, there is a gear icon. Click it. There you will find the Layout size&style. Click it. Then you can go wild customizing the looks of your sidebar. ;)

Great video Layla! One thing I am missing with this syncing is to be able to sync events from Clickup to Google Calendar. What I am calling events is tasks with start date and due date only. For instance, I have "tasks" for dentist appointments. For me, it's great in Clickup, but I would like to share it with my wife in Google Calendar. Currently, I have to use two tools. I wish I could use only Clickup and then share my Google Calendar with my wife (much simpler than sharing CU).

Hey Baptiste! With two-way syncing, you should be able to do exactly that! Here's an article I found that should be able to help. @@LaylaPomper Last time I tried, it was impossible to get true 2-way sync. It's impossible to have a true 2-way sync: 1. We can share CU events on Google Calendar 2. We can show Google Calendar on top of CU Calendar However, if we choose option #1, we won't be able to add anything from Google to CU, and any edits will be lost. And if we choose option #2, we don't get tasks to be closed on CU. Ideally, I would like to be able to see CU events into Google Calendar and be able to create CU events from Google Calendar (that can be closed in CU for instance). I will have to give it a new try

Loved this video, really useful. I've set everything up, however, when I drag a task into the ClickUp calendar, it automatically opens the task which is quite annoying. How can I prevent this as I noticed it doesn't happen when you drag tasks into the time slots? I also discovered in the calendar setting, if you scroll down to "Task card settings", you can toggle the time estimate on.

Great tutorial! Just one question, I'm syncing two google calendars and would like to have two tabs at the top similar to how you have 'Calendar' and 'Blocks.' My calendar tab shows my meetings/appointments from google calendar #1 and the blocks tab shows time blocking from google calendar #2. But in ClickUp when I add another calendar tab and then switch calendars in the lower right corner it automatically changes the blocks calendar view in ClickUp. So basically I can only show one google calendar at a time. Is there a way to have both? Thank you!

Hey Fighterpilot! Great question! I reached out to the team and one of our ProcessDriven Community Coaches, Montana, gave an answer that I believe should help: With many Google Calendar integrations, unless there is a distinct refresh button, events only get synced every 24 hours from the last sync. When first setting up the integration, it will sync for the next 60 days (at least with ClickUp). I'm not aware of any sync button, but you could always remove it and add an integration again. It's a bit harsh but should get the job done. It's also good to know that with ClickUp, there are two types of syncs: ClickUp ➡️ Google (tasks show as events) Google ➡️ ClickUp (events show on Calendar views and the Home Calendar) Since it's the same two apps, these approaches shouldn't differ in sync time but it's something to be aware of. hey thanks for this great video - if i sync gcal with clickup cal 2 way sync it will duplicate the tasks - task will go from clickup to gcal then gcal wil send it back to clickup so i will see it twice in clickup. ! how did you handle this?

I'd suggest pulling in your main calendar to ClickUp. When sending tasks OUT of ClickUp, I would not send them to your main calendar, but use a sub-calendar.

Hi Layla, I watched this video like you suggested to me in a comment I made against another video. One thing though as I'm new to using calendars in Clickup - I noticed that you only have 1 calendar view in your favourites and the rest were list views - do you find that its best not having more than one calendar view in your favourites, or is it just personal preference? Hey Matio! Just getting caught up on comments🙈 Great question! This is a personal preference. You can create different Calendar views filtered by the types of tasks or projects most important to you and add them to your favorites. If you're looking for an overview, a Calendar view created at the Everything level will show you all the tasks with Due Dates for the entire Workspace. To easily access this view, add it to your favorites!

When you say it breaks the recurring event in Google Calendar if you edit that recurring event in ClickUp, do you mean that it breaks that single recurrence in Google Calendar (like breaks it off from the future recurring ones, just like if you edited it in Google calendar, you would only make changes to that particular occurrence) or do you mean that it completely breaks the entire recurring series (and thus makes the other recurrences disappear in Google Calendar too)?

Hey Fernando! Just getting caught up with comments 🙈 In case you haven't found an answer yet, I reached out to my team and this what one of our Community Coaches had to say: The GCal ➝ ClickUp sync only shows your events on a Calendar view. There isn't a way to modify those events inside of ClickUp and they don't really "exist" in ClickUp. It's mainly a visual marker to plan your tasks around. You can move calendar events in time, and that will sync back to GCal. Otherwise, there's not much else you can do with them. You can possibly suggest our strategy for meetings where we have a Meetings list for estimating and tracking time! It's a bit of duplicate work, but gets the info he needs. It looks like you have little colored icons assigned to the Google events (the red, orange, yellow, and blue dots and the little flexed arm) - how to you do that? I'm looking for a way to differentiate some of my Google events that have synced into Clickup.

Hey Jessica! Great question! The icons are emojis added to the names of the tasks. You can add emojis to ClickUp tasks or Google Calendar events. When adding emojis on a mac, use the CTRL+CMD+ Space bar, and the emoji window opens. On a PC, hold Window key + . (period key). I hope this helps!

There have been a bunch of bugs with GCal and ClickUp last week or so - without knowing all the details, this sounds very similar to the bugs I’ve seen. Definitely report it to confirm!

Love this idea. My only concern and I can't seem to find any info about it in the documentation is privacy. Who is able to see your calendar in Clickup and how to control it. I have a few clients inside my clickup and I'm afraid to turn on this feature as it seem to be added everywhere at once.

This is a great question! In hindsight, I should have mentioned this in the video. I tested the experience with a second account and can confirm that people who _aren't_ you will not see the calendar, including National Holidays. It seems to be 100% personal in my tests.
