Do you know, if my printer is not a google cloud ready printer, does it need to be connected to a computer to act as a google cloud print spooler/server to be the intermediary? My Brother Laser printer is currently on my wireless network and I am not sure how that would work. My previous printer was a Canon Photo Printer that was Google Ready and it worked great no computer. From phone right to printer no matter where I was.

There are a couple of issues that I have seen in setting up a Chrome book to print. The issues were faced on a Samsung Chrome Book 2 (13.3" XE503C32-K01US) but are really Chrome Cloud Printing issues. 1. You have to realize somehow that you need to go to another computer to set up the printers under your login id used on the chrome book (typically a Gmail address). 2. Documentation on Google Cloud printing does not clarify that a non-cloud printer can be either a printer directly connected to a computer (other than the chrome book) or on the same network as the computer you will use to set up the cloud printing - and the same network that the chrome book will connect to. 3. Here is where the real issue comes in: If you use Google chrome to log into more than one account on the computer on which you are going set up the printers, then there is no way Google cloud print is going to find the printers. In other words, you are supposed to go a computer that has printers already set up (windows or mac) and start Google Chrome browser there and go under settings and then under cloud printing. Once you hit Manage there, the printers are supposed to show up automatically. Well there are two problems: a) There is significant delay in finding the printers and you have to continuously refresh the page (one with the two choices of printers [cloud and non-cloud] to add). b) If you use that computer to log into Google (via Chrome browser or other browser) and your chrome book has a different login, then it is a no go. That is because on the set up computer the devices are "owned" by the login you use. Solution to #3: Log out of all accounts in Google Chrome on the set up computer (PC or Mac). Log back into the account that "owns" the printer devices. How would you know? You have to go under settings (advanced) and go through the Cloud Print option to see if the printers show up. When they do, that is the Chrome login that owns printer devices on that set up computer. As shown in this video, you have to then go one-by-one to share each printer with each Google login (typically a Gmail address - but can be another email address). You can enter multiple Google logins separated by a comma. To get to share you have to click the green "Share" button at the top of the printer list. The entry box for the logins will then appear. Next you will have to login into each of the Google accounts with which you just shared the printers, to accept the request from the share. - Viola, the printers are now there! Now you can login to your chrome book and since the printers were shared by the owning login, they are now being shared with the Google login id that is used by the chrome book! The directions from Google and many KZbin videos are confusing and misleading because nobody says you got to share the devices and the fact that networked printers just do not automatically show up on your setup in Chrome book browser. I hope the above makes sense (you got to try it as you read it I think) and hope this is helpful. Wish that Cloud print could be a bit more sophisticated and could find the printers regardless of what login Id "owns" the devices. In fact in my opinion, you shouldn't have to go to another computer if the printers is attached to your network router. The chrome book (Google Chrome and cloud printing service should be able to find the devices on the network directly through some network discovery service). Perhaps there is a better way but this is what worked for me.

I'm so confused. I just got a Toshiba Chromebook 2. I have a Brother (not wireless) very basic black and white printer here at home. I have a Galaxy III smart phone. I work in a Community Mental Health company across my state line. My chromebook is set to WiFi. I'm not getting how I do this. If I can't do any personal work at my office, can I somehow set this up to print anyway or do I have to go out, buy a new printer and another computer to have at home attached to a printer?? Surely not. If only I have a tech savy nephew to set this up for me because I can't understand how to do this.

Question...... I just bought a new HP 4650 because it is Google Cloud Print ready. My question/concern is that it has ALL IN ONE color cartridge. Is there any good reason to have this or did I make a MISTAKE and should return it??

I don't really know, I am not up to speed on the latest printers, For reference I bought one of the Eco Tank printers, expensive but I like the idea on no more cartridges.

great video thank you for your help. I do have a problem I am using a Kodak Hero 5.1 and I jave configured ths clou print settings through the Kodak Online software and my ipad has found my printer on my wireless network and when i click print in the gmail ipad, it send the job, however where does this job go? where can we view the print jobs on the app like we can on gmail using pc or mac screen. Also my print jobs or shown as status Queued in yello however never seem to print at my printer. not sure what is going on here

Hi Steve, what a great Tutorial, every thing worked as you described in your tutorial. Believe me when I tell you I was going out of mind. I am a Scrapbook Junkie, and I was trying to print my pictures form my phone Windows Nokia T-Mobile to print out on my Selphy CP 900 Wi-fi ..simple ...NO ...and I finally after a yr stumbled on to your Tut and you have given me hope ...except, I downloaded my Print 2 Cloud App on my phone and now I am getting a message were it is saying check Network Connection??? can you help me please...thank you

I am confused. I have a Chromebook and have just bought a HP5530 All in One Printer [not sure how to set it up!] hoping to print out things I need for example Airline Boarding passes will I be able to do this. I don't have another computer.
