Yes, this is a BIG problem with Google in the EU. Paying for Workspace Business Plus, which is EUR 20,70 (ex. taxes) on a per month basis. Another EUR 19,20 (ex. taxes) per month for the Gemini Business add-on. But we are still waiting for the release of features that were introduced earlier this year, with the promise: ‘available soon’. No Gemini in the Google Search app on iOS and still no ‘extensions’ in Gemini from Workspace. Also no access to new apps like NotebookLM, not even on personal Gmail (as the app is in Beta). So it’s very nice to see where Google is heading with Gemini… but it seems to be a long long way to other continents. I would love to stay on Workspace, but the competition is moving faster… and so is mine.

This change was made, because EU sees Google as a gatekeeper and required it to add other map products in their search. Google just decided to remove google maps from search, so that competition does not get any visits. And now they are blaming the EU, that they had to remove maps from search...

Meanwhile.. OpenAI's announcement of GPT-4omni showcases real, simple and practical use cases of an all purpose AI. All these I/O presentations are just "shinny-all-talk-no-groundbreaking-demo" stuff and underwhelming imho. We'll see if Google can still do a comeback and do real competition, best of luck!

Yeah totally agree, feels like they're doing everything all the other AI companies are doing but worse. I think if they focused more on the things OpenAI and others overlook - tight integration with existing services, smaller AI functions that are genuinely useful - they would succeed immediately.

I'm no tech person at all; however, I am a huge Google fan and what's fascinating is the continuing advances in AI and how the tech experts are using this technology. How is this underwhelming? They are proposing a virtual assistant smarter than most people, which has integration instantly on the content and technology you already use. OpenAI needs plugins to install, all ask for money on top of what OpenAI asks and even so, does less due to its limitations.
