As someone that has both of these thermostats the third gen in my opinion is a more solid device. You actually lose features with the fourth gen thermostat but that depends on the type of system you have to.

@@phortunateejimone207 With the third gen thermostat you can set everything up on the thermostat itself without having to use an app and now with the fourth gen thermostat you're forced to use an app and the disgusting Goggle Home app that that. I noticed with the new thermostat every time I pressed it it kept changing temperatures as the display wants to turn easily. Honestly, it looks kind of goofy on the wall as it looks like a mushroom growing out of my wall.

@@weslynsantana6850 For starters you don't need an app to set it up as you can do it all through the thermostat. The fourth gen you can't do anything without using the app first
