I got the 3a a few weeks ago. Not a Google fan at all and didn't want to buy it because I try to steer clear of Google products. I couldn't argue the price, though. I was also able to take advantage of the $100 rebate and trade in an old phone, so pretty much got the phone for next to nothing. I figured it wasn't much of a loss if I didn't like it. Placed an order and 2 days later, there was a knock at the door. I thought maybe it was UPS dropping it off...nope. It was a Google rep that hand delivered it and offered to help set it up, answer any questions I have, etc. That was a VERY nice touch and classy move on their part. After using it for a few weeks, I'm pretty impressed! I do wish the battery life was a little stronger, but it's not bad at all (I was coming from a Huawei Mate 9 and those have incredible battery life compared to most phones). I've been won over and I'd recommend this phone to anyone. For 99% of the people out there, this phone is more than enough. No need to waste money on a 700-1000 dollar phone. Like Flossy said, no stupid notch design and there's a HEADPHONE JACK. You won't regret this phone purchase!

@@yeetyeet5722 For me, the regular 3a is plenty enough. Only difference between it and the xl is that the xl is slightly bigger screen and slightly bigger battery, which equates out with that bigger screen. My hands are on the large side and I've found that I can use the 3a perfectly with one hand when I need to. My best advice would be to visit a store like best buy or tmobile and see them in person to get an idea on their size. I ordered the 3a sight unseen and have been more than happy with it. Keep us updated with what you decide!

One thing to note, which flies under the radar. The USB A to C adapter from Google does fit with nearly every phone case for any USB phone. The Samsung version of the adapter doesn't work with the majority of cases due to the shape.

@@Hablais The camera software is absolute trash on the phone. I think a recent update tried to fix it but it's still bad. There's also the "phantom touch" problem where the screen reacts without someone touching the phone. Weird stuff man. It's my birthday in a couple days and was thinking of getting it but I'd rather get the S10. I think you should wait this out instead of buying right now.

The thing that gets me from these Pixels is the major Android software upgrades and as a developer you will highly appreciate it. As a normal consumer, sure they may be more phones to consider but this is a solid suggestion.

Thanks for the review, great video as always. Essentially what I can see is that it is a midrange phone with a superb camera. Would you be able to do a review of the Nubia Red Magic 3 next? I think it is a major major go, supreme high end specs/quality and awesome unique features that no other phone on the market currently has, and all for just $450.

The camera and speakers are great..but like you pointed out no expandable memory- no wireless charge and that big ass bezel kill it for me too. On a side note shout out to White shoes! My cat Shogun would headbutt me all the time for some attention too !👍💪❤

I actually just purchased this phone without even testing it. I owned multiple HTC devices and my last phone was the Huawei Mate 9. I waited 3 full years before I decided it was time to upgrade. I've used Samsung phones and LG phones and Nokia phones pretty much all the android phones you can think of. One of the best phones i have ever owned was the HTC m8 with the Google Play Edition. What made me purchase this phone was because of the price. Flossy does a very great job at describing the phone and giving you an in depth review. Anyone that has used a stock google OS will know what to expect and how the phone reacts. Using a stock android phone the vibration and typing feels buttery smooth, transitions are really nice, and the google assistant works like it's supposed to. All the stock apps are simple and it just works flawlessly across all the google environments. The screen on this isn't as sharp and vibrant as say a galaxy phone but it does the job. I was on the verge to get a S10 plus but decided to get the 3a XL. Sure it doesn't have a premium build or wireless charge but it have pure android, great battery/camera, dual speakers, type C quick charge and always on display with a rear finger print reader under $479USD. After a month of owning the phone, yes the GPU isn't the best but on a day to day this phone gets the job done and you can just pick it up in the morning and get going with your day.

Good Review, Flossy! I have had my Pixel 3A XL for a little over a week. In the past I have always purchased flagship phones and financially I am no longer in a position to do so. I have gone through three Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge phones, over the past three year, two of which have had sides split wide open due to heat issues and now the 3rd one is having trouble keeping a decent charge. I opted for this Pixel model due to camera reviews and boy am I glad that I did. This is one sensation unit and I absolutely love it!!! I do dog rescue and and take a multitude of dog pictures and so far I cannot say enough good things about the camera on this phone. I am looking forward to several years of great service from this unit. I bought an unlocked model and do not have to deal with the bloatware from the cell phone provider, so that too is a good thing. What do I miss the most as far as features on this Pixel... wireless charging, but the battery life is such that I am not forced into charing it multiple times a day like I have had to do over the years with the three Galaxy S7s. I think I will be OK storage wise, since the photos are backed up to Google Photos, thereby saving space that way, so all should be good there. My Samsung Gear 2 watch works just fine with the Pixel, too, so I have not lost out on the use of my watch. Still learning my way around the phone, so far, so good. Flossy, I bought this phone yesterday and I totally agree with you - this phone is awesome!! I would just like all photographers who use HDR to know that this phone DOES have it. You just have to know that it is hidden in the camera settings under "advanced settings". Just go there and toggle it on at it will appear on the interface. I guess they hid it because most people don't know that much about it or how to use it. That said, this is the best camera phone I have ever had.

I found this by accident as I was looking for info on what phone to buy, great content; very thorough and easy to understand. However, just how comfortable that cat was sitting right there while you were moving around and talking the way you were impressed the hell out of me and tells me all I need to know about your character. Animals know. I'm a new subscriber for that reason alone. The awesome content is a bonus. Ill definitely share your channel with all of my cat rescue buddies. They will all be so impressed and like/subscribe I'm sure of it. We need more people like you to lead by example. (in this situation I feel like men as examples are even more important).
